{"id":21508,"date":"2014-07-08T13:22:59","date_gmt":"2014-07-08T17:22:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/blog\/?p=21508"},"modified":"2014-07-08T13:22:59","modified_gmt":"2023-08-17T17:50:21","slug":"intense-film-recaptures-slaying-cop-officers-pov","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/intense-film-recaptures-slaying-cop-officers-pov\/","title":{"rendered":"Intense film recaptures slaying of cop from officer&#8217;s POV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/90068717\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Student\u00a0director Benjamin Afrmann recently aired his short film entitled &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/90068717\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"intense-film-recaptures-slaying-cop-officers-pov\" title=\"Intense film recaptures slaying of cop from officer's POV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Random Stop<\/a>,&#8221; which recounts the story of Kyle Dinkheller, a Laurens County, Georgia, Sheriff&#8217;s Deputy who was killed during a shootout with a deranged motorist following a traffic stop in 1998.<\/p>\n<p>The short, which is Afrmann&#8217;s MFA thesis project for UCLA, uses an intense point-of-view filming style to capture the encounter between Dinkheller and the man who executed him, Andrew Howard Brannan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The film was designed in response to the current POV\/GoPro craze,&#8221; said Afrmann in an email to the online magazine <a href=\"https:\/\/motherboard.vice.com\/read\/this-first-person-reenactment-of-a-violent-shootout-mocks-our-pov-obsession\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"intense-film-recaptures-slaying-cop-officers-pov\" title=\"Intense film recaptures slaying of cop from officer's POV\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Motherboard<\/a>. &#8220;Most POV shorts I&#8217;ve seen, like Bad Motherfucker (which I love), have been adolescent hero fantasies.
