That policy crushed small FFLs, drained them financially, and drove dozens out of business. In some cases, shop owners simply surrendered their licenses rather than fight the federal leviathan in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was regulation by intimidation\u2014and now, it&#8217;s over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-two-more-rules-headed-for-the-scrap-heap\">Two More Rules Headed for the Scrap Heap?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even better: DOJ and ATF also announced they\u2019re reconsidering the Biden-era \u201cEngaged in the Business\u201d rule and the infamous stabilizing brace ban\u2014two wildly unpopular policies currently facing legal challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cEngaged in the Business\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atf.gov\/firearms\/final-rule-definition-engaged-business-dealer-firearms\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"doj-atf-ditch-zero-tolerance-and-reconsider-two-major-rules\" title=\"DOJ &amp; ATF Ditch \u2018Zero-Tolerance\u2019 and Reconsider Two Major Rules\">rule<\/a> attempted to reclassify nearly any private firearm seller as a licensed dealer, forcing everyday gun owners into federal paperwork hell. The goal? Backdoor universal background checks\u2014something Congress has repeatedly rejected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The stabilizing brace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atf.gov\/rules-and-regulations\/factoring-criteria-firearms-attached-stabilizing-braces\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"doj-atf-ditch-zero-tolerance-and-reconsider-two-major-rules\" title=\"DOJ &amp; ATF Ditch \u2018Zero-Tolerance\u2019 and Reconsider Two Major Rules\">rule<\/a> was even worse. After years of saying braces didn\u2019t alter a pistol\u2019s classification, the ATF pulled a 180\u2014declaring braced pistols to be short-barreled rifles and threatening to turn millions of gun owners into felons overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now both rules are under review. And that\u2019s not just good news\u2014that\u2019s a massive course correction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-president-who-s-actually-protecting-the-2a\">A President Who\u2019s Actually Protecting the 2A<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This shift didn\u2019t happen by accident. It follows President Trump\u2019s Executive <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/trump-drops-the-hammer-executive-order-targets-bidens-anti-gun-legacy\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"doj-atf-ditch-zero-tolerance-and-reconsider-two-major-rules\" title=\"DOJ &amp; ATF Ditch \u2018Zero-Tolerance\u2019 and Reconsider Two Major Rules\">Order<\/a>, which directed the DOJ to assess and repeal policies that infringe on Second Amendment rights. And the results are already starting to roll in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acting ATF Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi are taking real steps to undo the Biden administration\u2019s mess, including these gun control rules that never had any business existing in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-looking-ahead\">Looking Ahead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The NSSF is also urging the DOJ to finalize a rule allowing FFLs access to NICS for voluntary employee background checks\u2014a common-sense step enabled by the <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/atf-is-decisively-indecisive-on-implementing-bipartisan-safer-communities-act\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"doj-atf-ditch-zero-tolerance-and-reconsider-two-major-rules\" title=\"DOJ &amp;
