This year, I had the opportunity to attend SIG Sauer\u2019s Global Defence Range Day and got a first look at some of their latest products, including the new duty light, the FOXTROT 4R. With an impressive spec sheet and a price point around $180, this light is bound to turn heads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s get straight to the point: this light is bright<\/em><\/strong>. SIG claims 1,350 lumens and 33,000 candela, which translates to a tight beam capable of illuminating targets at a distance while still providing enough flood for close-range use. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FOXTROT 4R uses the same head as the FOXTROT-EDC light, which I\u2019ve personally used to light up areas beyond 100 yards, even in heavy ambient backlighting.<\/p>\n\n\n

The light runs on a single rechargeable 18350 battery<\/a>, which delivers about an hour of runtime. Conveniently, the FOXTROT 4R comes with two batteries, allowing you to quickly swap a fresh one in while charging the other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With front-loading battery access, you can easily replace a battery<\/a> without removing the light from your firearm\u2014a nice touch for uninterrupted use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Holster compatibility should also be seamless. The FOXTROT 4R has a similar footprint to Modlite\u2019s popular pistol light, meaning there\u2019s already a solid variety of holsters that will work with it right out of the gate.<\/p>\n\n\n

An interesting feature of the FOXTROT 4R is its highly configurable switches. The physical switches can be swapped between four styles, allowing you to customize their height and shape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond that, the switches are programmable to fit your preferences. For example, you can set an upward press for constant-on and a downward press for momentary use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the range, the switches are intuitive and easy to activate with either your index finger or thumb, adding to the light\u2019s overall usability.<\/p>\n\n\n

Overall, the FOXTROT 4R seems to deliver high-end performance comparable to other premium pistol lights, but at a more wallet-friendly price. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it\u2019s not available just yet, SIG expects the first shipments to hit shelves in April. In the meantime, it\u2019s worth keeping an eye on their website<\/a> for updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
