Ohio prior, issued a state stamp in 1938 specific to only one reservoir.&nbsp; In 1949, competition began for the right to be the annual duck stamp artist.&nbsp; Sixty-five artists submitted their work in 1949 while today over 2,000 submit <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/enforcing-existing-laws-work-career-criminal-gets-15-years-for-unlawful-possession\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"the-federal-duck-stamp\" title=\"The Federal Duck Stamp\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3381\">work each year<\/a>.&nbsp; There is no compensation for the winning design.&nbsp; In all there have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fws.gov\/library\/collections\/federal-duck-stamp-gallery\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"the-federal-duck-stamp\" title=\"The Federal Duck Stamp\">91 federal <\/a>stamps issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Act of 1934 according to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service has been used to protect more than 6 million acres of wetlands and is considered one of the most successful conservation programs in history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"782\" height=\"759\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Favorite.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-211054\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.0303036541430777;width:782px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Favorite.jpg 782w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Favorite-309x300.jpg 309w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Favorite-150x146.jpg 150w, https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Favorite-768x745.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 782px) 100vw, 782px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">This image just stands out a man\u2019s best friend both in and out of duck hunting.&nbsp; This one was signed by my father when I was just 5 years old.
