They had pried open a window and were climbing through when he found them.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe homeowner fired multiple rounds, hitting one of the intruders, while the other fled the scene,\u201d according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manateesheriff.com\/_T24_R315.php\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"florida-sheriff-intruders-should-expect-to-be-shot\" title=\"Florida Sheriff: Intruders Should 'Expect To Be Shot'\">police report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-aftermath\">Aftermath<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.live5news.com\/2024\/12\/28\/homeowner-shoots-kills-intruder-if-you-break-into-someones-home-you-should-expect-be-shot\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"florida-sheriff-intruders-should-expect-to-be-shot\" title=\"Florida Sheriff: Intruders Should 'Expect To Be Shot'\"><em>WWSB<\/em><\/a> reports that the police took the injured suspect to nearby Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He was in <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/concealed-carrier-shoots-two-alleged-carjackers-both-in-critical-condition\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"florida-sheriff-intruders-should-expect-to-be-shot\" title=\"Florida Sheriff: Intruders Should 'Expect To Be Shot'\">critical condition<\/a> upon arrival and died from his injuries in the hospital.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police identified him as 27-year-old Jorge Nestevan Flores-Toledo. The police reports note that Flores-Toledo is from Mexico, although his citizen status and legality are unclear.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A K-9 Unit came in to track down the other suspect. They found the suspect a few blocks away and arrested him.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-second-suspect\">The Second Suspect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The authorities identified the second suspect as Michel Soto-Mella, a 39-year-old male with an expired Visa from Chile. The 90-day visa expired in September, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/EuE_E7yWXr0?si=2wdgqdsGhzuPeR1k\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"florida-sheriff-intruders-should-expect-to-be-shot\" title=\"Florida Sheriff: Intruders Should 'Expect To Be Shot'\"><em>Fox 35<\/em><\/a>, and Soto-Mella has been living here illegally since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MCSO initially reported that they believed all those involved in the crime were caught, but have since revised.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cManatee County Sheriff\u2019s Homicide detectives believe there may be other individuals involved in this crime,\u201d the Sheriff\u2019s Office statement said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Soto-Mella has already been charged with armed burglary, and news outlets anticipate more charges soon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-prior-criminal-activity\">Prior Criminal Activity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Flores-Toledo, before breaking into the Florida home, already had a <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/murder-victims-have-criminal-records\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"florida-sheriff-intruders-should-expect-to-be-shot\" title=\"Florida Sheriff: Intruders Should 'Expect To Be Shot'\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3406\">criminal record<\/a>. according to police documents, he has an alias, &#8220;Anibal Miller-Valencia.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His &#8220;Miller-Valencia&#8221; alias has a birthdate in 2001, and was arrested in 2023 for residential burglary. Either way, the homeowner thought quickly. He had already prepared himself to defend his home, should he ever need to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe bottom line is,\u201d Wells said, \u201cthis is the state of Florida.
