After the normal pre-screening, she entered the machine, still carrying the gun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-unintentional-gunfire-in-mri\">Unintentional Gunfire In MRI<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/cdrh\/cfdocs\/cfmaude\/detail.cfm?mdrfoi__id=17404241&amp;pc=LNH&amp;device_sequence_no=1\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"woman-shot-in-butt-during-mri\" title=\"Woman Shot In Butt During MRI\">FDA report<\/a> filed on the incident, the magnet in the machine attracted the gun&#8217;s metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While she was in the MRI machine, her gun fired and shot her in the right buttock. A physician on-site \u201cdescribed the entry and exit holes as very small and superficial, only penetrating subcutaneous tissue.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The staff working the MRI rushed her to a hospital, where she underwent treatment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The woman is now \u201chealing well\u201d according to the report.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GE Healthcare performed an investigation after the incident.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-pre-mri-screening-missed-the-gun\">Pre-MRI Screening Missed the Gun<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the MRI staff, the pre-screening specifically asks about weapons. The questionnaire even asked the woman if she was carrying any guns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accessdata.fda.gov\/scripts\/cdrh\/cfdocs\/cfmaude\/detail.cfm?mdrfoi__id=17404241&amp;pc=LNH&amp;device_sequence_no=1\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"woman-shot-in-butt-during-mri\" title=\"Woman Shot In Butt During MRI\">GEHC investigation<\/a> reported that the woman answered no to all of the questions in the screening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A safety manual from GEHC warns that entering the MRI room with \u201cferrous\u201d or forbidden objects is highly risky.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FDA Report and news coverage do not share the location of the incident. Not every state prohibits concealed carrying in medical facilities, and hospitals are often required to post \u201cgun-free zone\u201d signs if they don\u2019t allow <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/ak-47-hog-blaster\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"woman-shot-in-butt-during-mri\" title=\"Woman Shot In Butt During MRI\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3500\">firearms<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-medical-facilities-and-guns\">Medical Facilities and Guns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A study from the <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC9461573\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"woman-shot-in-butt-during-mri\" title=\"Woman Shot In Butt During MRI\">National Library of Medicine<\/a> encourages confiscating weapons in hospitals and other medical facilities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWeapons are commonly encountered by healthcare providers, especially in a hospital environment,\u201d the study claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>READ MORE: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/homeowner-protected-by-stand-your-ground-after-neighborhood-shootout\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"woman-shot-in-butt-during-mri\" title=\"Woman Shot In Butt During MRI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Homeowner Protected By Stand Your Ground After Neighborhood Shootout<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Screening programs, such as the one in the MRI incident, have been effective in lowering the amount of weapons found in hospitals, according to the study.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just because you have a screening though, doesn\u2019t mean the patient will disclose that they <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/gun-toten-mamas-concealed-carry-purses-for-women-shot-show-2013\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"woman-shot-in-butt-during-mri\" title=\"Woman Shot In Butt During MRI\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3501\">concealed carry<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Who do you blame for the incident?
