Surveillance footage obtained by <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/live-blog\/unitedhealthcare-ceo-shooting-live-updates-new-york-shell-casings-rcna182979\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"brutal-assassination-caught-on-camera-goes-viral\" title=\"Brutal Assassination Caught on Camera Goes Viral\">NBC News<\/a><\/em> shows Thompson walking when the gunman ambushes him from behind, firing multiple shots before fleeing the scene on an electric bike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NYPD has labeled the attack a targeted hit, with a manhunt underway for the suspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noir focused on a key detail from the video: the shooter\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/gunfight-science-gun-malfunction-busting-tipstactics\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"brutal-assassination-caught-on-camera-goes-viral\" title=\"Brutal Assassination Caught on Camera Goes Viral\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3550\">gun malfunctioned<\/a> multiple times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAnyone who\u2019s seen the video can see that the shooter\u2019s gun jammed like four or five times after he strikes Thompson the first time,\u201d Noir explained. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noir argued that if Thompson had been armed, the repeated malfunctions might have given him an opportunity to respond. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a lot of time in a life-or-death situation. I\u2019m not saying that to call for more laws; I\u2019m saying it to point out how useless these existing laws are.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noir emphasized that laws failed to prevent the shooter from obtaining the suppressor and carrying out the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The surveillance footage also revealed that the shooter repeatedly racked the slide between shots, likely due to a compatibility issue between the suppressor and the firearm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s wild is that this guy didn\u2019t even know his suppressor and ammo wouldn\u2019t work with his gun. He turned it into what was basically a one-shot bolt-action handgun. If he had actually tested this setup beforehand, he would have known it wasn\u2019t going to run,&#8221; he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noir tied the incident back to a broader critique of gun control, questioning the lack of protection for Thompson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHow is this even possible in a city with some of the strictest gun laws in the country and the most police officers walking the streets? Where was the protection for this guy? This man was the CEO of a massive corporation,&#8221; he said, &#8220;yet he had no armed security with him. They\u2019ll claim suppressors are too dangerous and use this as proof we need to crack down harder. But let\u2019s not forget, no law stopped this from happening,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Noir, the incident underscores the importance of the Second Amendment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGun control doesn\u2019t work. Laws don\u2019t stop criminals, and the government isn\u2019t going to be there to protect you when it counts. If Brian Thompson had been armed, this could have probably ended differently,&#8221; he said. &#8220;That\u2019s what the Second Amendment is about\u2014protecting yourself when no one else can or
