Rose and J. Montgomery, with the Jacksonville Sheriff\u2019s Office, arrived on the scene shortly after 8:30 p.m. to assist a carjacking victim. In an interview with local news affiliate <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2024\/11\/07\/daughter-of-man-killed-while-wielding-butter-knife-criticizes-police-response-in-durkeeville-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"cops-treat-us-so-nasty-says-daughter-after-leo-shot-dad-armed-w-butter-knife\" title=\"Cops 'treat us so nasty,' says Daughter after LEO Shot Dad Armed w\/ Butter Knife\">News4Jax<\/a><\/em> she was highly critical of the LEO&#8217;s actions at the scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2018re gonna shoot him, at least shoot him once. I mean, like, even if he doesn\u2019t follow command. That\u2019s what I wish they had done,\u201d she stated.  &#8220;I mean, nobody wants to get that call saying that their father is gone,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to mourning her father\u2019s loss, Jackson\u2019s daughter hopes that the incident leads to a reassessment of JSO\u2019s protocols, especially in cases involving individuals with possible <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/5-reasons-safe-acts-gun-ban-list-disaster\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"cops-treat-us-so-nasty-says-daughter-after-leo-shot-dad-armed-w-butter-knife\" title=\"Cops 'treat us so nasty,' says Daughter after LEO Shot Dad Armed w\/ Butter Knife\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3732\">mental health<\/a> issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She revealed that her father had struggled with such challenges, further deepening her concerns about the outcome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cJust better protocols, getting our people some help, especially, especially my race, I just feel like they treat us so nasty,\u201c the daughter said. \u201dI just think it\u2019s just so unfair.
