The officials found Jones in critical condition and took him to the nearby St Francis Hospital. He died there from the gunshot wounds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Shelby County Police are still looking for the suspects, and they have not identified them yet. The sheriff\u2019s office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=970631275107977&amp;set=a.223972139773898\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"tennessee-homeowner-fatally-shot-by-burglars\" title=\"Tennessee Homeowner Fatally Shot By Burglars\u00a0\">posted <\/a>a picture of a car in a BOLO, or \u201cBe On the Look Out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SCSO thinks the suspects escaped in a white Honda Accord. They encourage those with information to call in and assist with the investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspects did not manage to steal the victim\u2019s car.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-neighbors-heard-it-all\">The Neighbors Heard It All<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Neighbors worried for their safety and spoke to the news without identifying themselves.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One neighbor said she heard the shots. \u201cIt sounded like a cannon almost, it went \u2018boom boom,\u2019 back to back,\u201d she told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnews5.com\/2024\/10\/21\/homeowner-shot-after-confronting-burglars-shelby-co\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"tennessee-homeowner-fatally-shot-by-burglars\" title=\"Tennessee Homeowner Fatally Shot By Burglars\u00a0\"><em>Action 5 News.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another neighbor heard the shots and five minutes later heard police sirens pass her home.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the neighbors described hearing a string of gunfire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-was-the-homeowner-armed\">Was The Homeowner Armed?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The police currently have no eyewitnesses to the incident, and with Jones deceased, the details remain unclear. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is known is that the homeowner did not fire at the burglars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It remains uncertain whether the homeowner was armed and ready to defend himself or unprepared and caught off guard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-conclusion\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The odds are that someone in your life will be a victim of a crime.
