He explained his perspective. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOriginally I was a Democrat, voted in every Democratic primary, every Democratic election,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I switched parties and switched to the Republican Party because I figured the Second Amendment rights would be more defended under the Republican Party.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-why-you-still-can-t-possess-bump-stocks-in-certain-states\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/why-you-still-cant-possess-bump-stocks-in-certain-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"i-overturned-trumps-bump-stock-ban-but-ill-still-vote-for-him\" title=\"'I overturned Trump's Bump Stock Ban -- But I'll Still Vote for Him'\">Why You Still Can\u2019t Possess Bump Stocks in Certain States<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Cargill is firm in his belief that the 2A guarantees citizens access to the same firearms as the military. In his training courses, he sees people from all walks of life\u2014doctors, lawyers, teachers, women, and even those with disabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He recalls, \u201cI\u2019ve had someone with no arms get their license to carry handgun with us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cargill was critical of Democrats, particularly Kamala Harris and her vice-presidential running mate Gov. Tim Walz, calling them \u201cgun grabbers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His shift to the Republican Party was driven by his belief that gun rights would be better protected under their platform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t care if you\u2019re an R, I don\u2019t care if you\u2019re a D, I don\u2019t care if you\u2019re an L. If you do anything that looks like it\u2019s going to trample over the Second Amendment rights, then I\u2019m going to be there to put my foot in your throat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cargill\u2019s loyalty to Trump reflects his larger commitment to preserving gun rights, despite disagreements over specific policies like the bump stock ban.
