The House Judiciary Committee has advanced Congressman Andrew Clyde’s resolution, H.J.Res. 144, which aims to overturn an ATF rule many see as an overreach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clyde didn\u2019t hold back in his remarks after the committee\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m incredibly pleased that the House Judiciary Committee approved my measure to overturn the ATF\u2019s disastrous rule,\u201d said Clyde. \u201cThis lawless government overreach subjects law-abiding Americans to unconstitutional barriers \u2014 violating both the Second Amendment and Congress\u2019 sole legislative authority.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He continued by criticizing the Biden administration, noting that the rule is part of a broader effort to create a nationwide gun registry that could eventually lead to gun confiscation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the heart of the issue is the ATF\u2019s new definition of “Engaged in the Business<\/a>” of selling firearms. This rule, according to Clyde and his supporters, would require even individuals selling just one firearm to obtain a Federal Firearms License (FFL), conduct background checks, and complete additional paperwork. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jordan backed Clyde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cATF\u2019s \u2018Engaged in the Business\u2019 rule is the latest example of the Biden Administration ATF going after law-abiding Americans by making new laws without congressional authorization,” he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The rule drastically expands the universe of Americans who would be classified as a \u2018dealer\u2019 under the federal law that requires some people to obtain a license to become a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL),” he continued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Representative Clyde\u2019s Congressional Review Act will nullify the rule and prevent regulatory overreach by ATF, ensuring that existing laws that govern firearm sales are not expanded without proper legislative authorization,\u201d concluded Jordan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clyde’s resolution, passed under the Congressional Review Act,<\/a> seeks to undo this ATF rule. Pro-2A supporters contend that this legislation is crucial to preventing regulatory overreach that infringes on gun owners’ rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this move by the House Judiciary Committee, all eyes are now on whether the House will pass Clyde’s resolution to safeguard the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
