{"id":207175,"date":"2024-09-27T05:05:50","date_gmt":"2024-09-27T10:05:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/?p=207175"},"modified":"2024-09-27T05:05:55","modified_gmt":"2024-09-27T10:05:55","slug":"new-biden-harris-executive-order-on-gun-control","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/new-biden-harris-executive-order-on-gun-control\/","title":{"rendered":"New Biden-Harris Executive Order on Gun Control!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gun Owners of America (GOA) and the National Rifle Association (NRA) are speaking out after the White House\u2019s latest executive order on gun control, which was announced earlier yesterday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both organizations heavily criticized the move, describing it as a misguided attempt to clamp down on gun rights and a distraction from the real issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Happening Now: President Biden and Vice President Harris deliver remarks on addressing the scourge of gun violence in America. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QLzdYfpk7Y\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-biden-harris-executive-order-on-gun-control\" title=\"New Biden-Harris Executive Order on Gun Control!\">https:\/\/t.co\/QLzdYfpk7Y<\/a><\/p>&mdash; The White House (@WhiteHouse) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WhiteHouse\/status\/1839412354083438882?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-biden-harris-executive-order-on-gun-control\" title=\"New Biden-Harris Executive Order on Gun Control!\">September 26, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>Erich Pratt, Senior Vice President of GOA, took direct aim at the timing of the announcement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The White House just made a huge mistake by reminding gun owners of Kamala\u2019s radical, gun-grabbing agenda, with the election a mere month or so away,&#8221; said Pratt in a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunowners.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-biden-harris-executive-order-on-gun-control\" title=\"New Biden-Harris Executive Order on Gun Control!\"> press release<\/a> obtained by GunsAmerica. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Kamala Harris just claimed responsibility for each infringement\u2014every banned gun and part\u2014by ATF in the last four years, so we are pushing back and calling her out,&#8221; he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pratt\u2019s comments highlight the frustration many 2A advocates feel about the policies being pursued by the Biden-Harris Administration. It&#8217;s pretty clear to all of us that the administration is overstepping by using federal agencies like the ATF to enforce unconstitutional gun control measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aidan Johnston, GOA\u2019s Director of Federal Affairs, also weighed in, pointing to the danger he sees in weaponizing background checks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShockingly, Kamala Harris is weaponizing the \u2018enhanced background check\u2019 for young adults into a tool for gun confiscation,&#8221; he observed.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;If an existing gun owner goes to purchase a new firearm legally, the government may \u2018red flag\u2019 them instead and seize their currently owned firearms in the process,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;The chilling effect this could have on new gun purchases is unimaginable.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The executive order contains several provisions that have triggered alarm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-most-notable-executive-orders\">Most Notable Executive Orders:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The use of \u201cred flag\u201d laws to disarm gun buyers during an \u201cenhanced background check\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>$135 million in federal funding offered to states as an incentive to pass and enforce \u201cred-flag\u201d gun confiscation laws and expand \u201cenhanced background\u201d checks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pressure on states to modify privacy laws, specifically to allow the federal government access to minors\u2019 records in order to extend waiting periods for adults under 21 attempting to purchase firearms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The creation of a task force to target homemade firearms, 3D-printed guns, and machine gun conversion devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A push for Congress to pass a federal ban on so-called \u201cassault weapons\u201d and bump stocks, along with mandatory \u201csafe-storage\u201d laws and expanded background checks to support the ATF\u2019s gun owner registry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>No doubt that these measures represent a serious threat to the 2A and are part of a broader plan to restrict gun ownership in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the GOA\u2019s response, Randy Kozuch, Executive Director of the NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), also issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nraila.org\/articles\/20240926\/nra-statement-on-new-biden-harris-executive-order\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-biden-harris-executive-order-on-gun-control\" title=\"New Biden-Harris Executive Order on Gun Control!\">statement<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kozuch took a broader view of the political context behind the executive order, stating that the Biden-Harris Administration is using the announcement to deflect attention from other, more pressing problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis Executive Order is just one more attempt by the Biden-Harris Administration to deflect attention from their soft-on-crime policies that have emboldened criminals in our country,&#8221; said Kozuch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The orders are notably heavy on election-year rhetoric and light on substance,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;It&#8217;s no secret that Americans don&#8217;t feel safe under the Biden-Harris Administration, as evidenced by the record number of firearms being purchased for the defense of self and family.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-trump-uses-lott-s-crime-data-to-slam-biden-harris-administration\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/trump-uses-lotts-crime-data-to-slam-biden-harris-administration\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"new-biden-harris-executive-order-on-gun-control\" title=\"New Biden-Harris Executive Order on Gun Control!\">Trump Uses Lott\u2019s Crime Data to Slam Biden-Harris Administration<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Kozuch\u2019s comments reflect growing concerns about the current administration\u2019s handling of crime and public safety. This executive order is part of a larger effort to curtail Second Amendment rights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To some extent, we&#8217;ve all been on high alert as the administration continues to push for tighter gun control regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The $135 million in funding attached to this executive order is particularly alarming, as it incentivizes states to adopt policies that will lead to more gun confiscations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, the expansion of background checks and the push for Congress to pass \u201cassault weapons\u201d bans are a direct attack on gun ownership and individual rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GOA and NRA have promised to keep up the fight, with both organizations encouraging their members and supporters to stay informed and engaged in the ongoing battle.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the 2024 election looms, it&#8217;s no time to sit on the sidelines.
