According to Todd Atkins at the<a href=\"https:\/\/sportsmensalliance.org\/news\/animal-extremists-get-hunting-and-trapping-ban-on-colorados-november-ballot\/#:~:text=Animal%20Extremists%20Get%20Hunting%20and%20Trapping%20Ban%20on%20Colorado' target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-colorado-to-vote-on-initiative-91-a-wildcat-hunting-ban\" title=\"Colorado To Vote On Initiative #91: A Wildcat Hunting Ban\u00a0\"s%20November%20Ballot,-August%201%2C%202024&amp;text=On%20July%2031%2C%20the%20Colorado,November%202024%20general%20election%20ballot.\"> <em>Sportsmen Alliance,<\/em><\/a> the extremist animal group allegedly used many dishonest methods to obtain signatures.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey buy signatures, slander hunters and trappers, disrespect Colorado\u2019s professional wildlife managers, and lie to the faces of well-meaning Coloradans,\u201d Atkins alleged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Decisions like Initiative #91 should not be made by those not involved in the wildlife world, argues Torin Miller, a council member at Sportsmen Alliance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBallot box biology does not work. They do not have the same contextual information that hunters and trappers have.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a ballot vote like this that led to \u201creintroducing\u201d grey wolves to the state last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate that emotions \u2013 especially those conjured by deceit \u2013 are tying the hands of wildlife professionals,\u201d Miller said, \u201cwhile everyone in Colorado is forced to suffer the potentially deadly consequences of extremism of this type.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-existing-laws-on-wildcat-hunting\">Existing Laws On Wildcat Hunting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Laws already exist to govern the hunting of these wildcats, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/krdo.com\/news\/2024\/08\/01\/initiative-to-ban-mountain-lion-bobcat-hunting-makes-colorado-ballot\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-colorado-to-vote-on-initiative-91-a-wildcat-hunting-ban\" title=\"Colorado To Vote On Initiative #91: A Wildcat Hunting Ban\u00a0\"><em>KRDO<\/em><\/a>. Federal and state laws protect lynx, making them illegal to hunt. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Passing the bill would completely ban hunting mountain lions, lynx, and bobcats. If passed, killing one could lead to hefty fines of up to $1,000, and jail time of up to 364 days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This becomes especially concerning when self-defense is taken into account. These animals are known to prey on farm animals and even small children.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hunters, farmers, and all Coloradans need the peace of mind that comes with knowing they can retaliate against predators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-initiative-91-goal\">The Initiative #91 Goal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Voting &#8220;yes&#8221; on Initiative #91 would make it 100% illegal to hunt these wildcats. The extremist group CATs wants the bill to be passed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Samantha Miller, is a manager at CATs, claimed that Initiative #91 will prevent the \u201cneedless <a href=\"https:\/\/gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hunt365-arizona-officials-kill-three-mountain-lions\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunt365-colorado-to-vote-on-initiative-91-a-wildcat-hunting-ban\" title=\"Colorado To Vote On Initiative #91: A Wildcat Hunting Ban\u00a0\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2303\">killing of mountain lions<\/a> and bobcats for their heads and beautiful fur coats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the objective of CATs. To \u201cprotect\u201d animals that we need protecting against.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe simple truth is they couldn\u2019t care less about the lives they put in danger by pushing this radical ideology,\u201d Atkins said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-colorado-call-to-action\">A Colorado Call To Action<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of us hunters in the country can do little besides stand by and watch. But if the bill passes, those restrictions will skyrocket.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be proactive. Do your research on Initiative #91. If you live in Colorado or know someone there, spread the word.
