GENESEO, ILL. (07\/24\/24) \u2013<\/strong> Springfield Armory\u00ae is proud to announce the launch of the Prodigy\u2122 AOS 9mm pistol in a Cerakote\u00ae Coyote Brown finish. This new Prodigy variant is available in both 5\u201d and 4.25\u201d variants, in both standard-capacity and 10-round versions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 1911 DS Prodigy represents a modern take on the proven 1911 platform, providing shooters with double-stack capacity and a performance-driven feature set. The Cerakote Coyote Brown coating not only enhances the durability and performance of the firearm, but also offers significant benefits in terms of longevity and ease of care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Featuring an expertly engineered double-stack magazine, the pistol is optics-ready with raised fiber-optic front\/u-notch rear sights. It also features an ambidextrous safety and Picatinny rail. Mounted to the pistol\u2019s forged steel receiver is a polymer grip module that offers capacities of 17+1 in a flush-fit magazine and 20+1 in an extended magazine, both included with the Prodigy. An optional 26-round magazine is also available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The polymer grip module features a wraparound Adaptive Grip Texture treatment, made popular on the Hellcat\u00ae and Echelon\u2122 families of 9mm pistols. Matching up with this grip module and the forged steel receiver is a forged steel slide with forward serrations. Both it and the steel receiver feature the rugged Coyote Brown Cerakote finish. Housed within the slide is a match-grade bushingless forged stainless steel bull barrel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Configured for today\u2019s most demanding applications, the Prodigy is ready to accept a wide range of optical sights. Developed in collaboration with Agency Arms, the Prodigy employs AOS (Agency Optic System) plates designed exclusively for the 1911 DS. Machined from billet 17-4 stainless steel, the AOS plates come fitted with a rear sight and are designed specifically to preserve visible iron sights for an intuitive sight picture and instant target acquisition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pistol ships with a cover plate with rear sight as well as one optics-mounting plate designed for the HEX\u2122 Dragonfly\u2122 along with a variety of today\u2019s most popular red dots. Additional plates designed to accept a wide range of today\u2019s most popular optics are also available on the Springfield Armory Store.
