The intruder was hit in the back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police arrived and arrested the suspect. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usacarry.com\/chicago-homeowner-shoots-intruder-in-the-back-during-break-in-attempt\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ccl-holding-homeowner-shoots-midnight-intruder\" title=\"CCL-Holding Homeowner Shoots Midnight Intruder\u00a0\"><em>USACarry<\/em> <\/a>reported the intruder was in critical condition when he arrived at the University of Chicago Hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-backlash-against-the-homeowner\">Backlash Against The Homeowner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This case happened in South Chicago, where gun laws are tight. Those against using guns will likely claim the homeowner was not acting in self-defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some people say that because the homeowner shot the intruder in the back, that was not self-defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.illinoislegalaid.org\/legal-information\/what-legal-definition-self-defense\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ccl-holding-homeowner-shoots-midnight-intruder\" title=\"CCL-Holding Homeowner Shoots Midnight Intruder\u00a0\">Illinois<\/a>, self-defense is legal if the victim reasonably believes they are in danger. It is also considered appropriate to defend against felonies, such as theft.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-conclusion\">Conclusion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Just because the midnight intruder was hit in the back, does not mean he retreated.
