Sumpter was armed with a knife.  <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"yoast-reading-time__wrapper\"><span class=\"yoast-reading-time__icon\"><svg aria-hidden=\"true\" focusable=\"false\" data-icon=\"clock\" width=\"20\" height=\"20\" fill=\"none\" stroke=\"currentColor\" style=\"display:inline-block;vertical-align:-0.1em\" role=\"img\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" viewbox=\"0 0 24 24\"><path stroke-linecap=\"round\" stroke-linejoin=\"round\" stroke-width=\"2\" d=\"M12 8v4l3 3m6-3a9 9 0 11-18 0 9 9 0 0118 0z\"><\/path><\/svg><\/span><span class=\"yoast-reading-time__spacer\" style=\"display:inline-block;width:1em\"><\/span><span class=\"yoast-reading-time__descriptive-text\">Estimated reading time:  <\/span><span class=\"yoast-reading-time__reading-time\">2<\/span><span class=\"yoast-reading-time__time-unit\"> minutes<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Late last Monday night, Austin Sumpter, 23, from Thrall, Texas tried <a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/taylor-homeowner-shoots-knife-wielding-intruder\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"suspect-hail-satan-knife-loses-gun-owner\" title=\"Suspect w\/ 'Hail Satan' Knife Loses to Gun Owner\">breaking into a home<\/a> on Donna Drive in Taylor and things didn\u2019t go well for him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The homeowner called the cops at 11:35 PM, saying Sumpter, who had a knife, was trying to get inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the Taylor Police Dept (TPD) showed up, Sumpter managed to get into the house, and the homeowner shot him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the officers arrived, they found Sumpter on the front porch with a gunshot wound to his hip. They also found a knife with &#8220;Hail Satan&#8221; on the sheath that Sumpter was carrying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After getting treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Sumpter left the hospital on Wednesday morning at 11:30 AM. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-wow-sig-s-p320-m17-ceremonial\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/wow-sigs-p320-m17-ceremonial\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"suspect-hail-satan-knife-loses-gun-owner\" title=\"Suspect w\/ 'Hail Satan' Knife Loses to Gun Owner\">Wow! SIG\u2019s P320-M17 Ceremonial!<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Taylor Police arrested him right after and took him to the Williamson County Jail. He\u2019s now facing charges of Burglary of a Habitation with Commission of a Felony, a 2nd-degree felony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Facebook users had plenty to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/taylorpdtx\/posts\/122163381266040917?ref=embed_post\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"suspect-hail-satan-knife-loses-gun-owner\" title=\"Suspect w\/ 'Hail Satan' Knife Loses to Gun Owner\">say<\/a> about the incident. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One user commented, &#8220;Good job homeowner and Taylor PD. I know we will all feel and sleep a little safer.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another added, &#8220;This is what happens when you value somebody else\u2019s items in their house more than your own life. Hope this was an eye-opener for thieves.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another user expressed sympathy for the suspect, saying, &#8220;Really sad to hear, I graduated with Austin and although he seemed &#8217;emotionally&#8217; challenged (all the devil\/trench-coat stuff), I hoped he\u2019d grow out of it.
