The attack occurred during a live-streamed church service, and police have since apprehended the suspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gottlieb criticized U.S. gun control advocates who admire Australia&#8217;s stringent gun laws, suggesting that disarmament leaves citizens vulnerable to such unanticipated assaults. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAmerican gun prohibitionists frequently whine about the alleged \u2018insanity\u2019 represented by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/second-amendment\/commentary\/12-defensive-gun-uses-show-armed-citizens-make-communities-safer#:~:text=Almost%20every%20major%20study%20has,Control%20and%20Prevention%20has%20acknowledged.\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"knife-rampage-in-sydney-exposes-perils-of-disarmament-says-ccrkba\" title=\"Knife Rampage in Sydney Exposes Perils of Disarmament, Says CCRKBA\">millions<\/a> of private citizens who are legally armed in public,\u201d Gottlieb observed. \u201cTrue insanity is disarming the public, leaving them defenseless against madmen who attack without warning, and literally face no resistance from their victims. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy contrast, Australia banned a wide array of firearms following the 1996 massacre in Port Arthur,\u201d he recalled, \u201cand carrying firearms in public, openly or concealed, is prohibited.
