Gov. Mark Gordon just gave the thumbs-up to a new <a href=\"https:\/\/wyoleg.gov\/Legislation\/2024\/SF0105\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"wyoming-stands-up-for-gun-privacy\" title=\"Wyoming Stands Up for Gun Privacy\">law<\/a> safeguarding gun buyers&#8217; privacy. This move, backed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssf.org\/articles\/nssf-praises-wyoming-gov-mark-gordon-for-protecting-second-amendment-privacy\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"wyoming-stands-up-for-gun-privacy\" title=\"Wyoming Stands Up for Gun Privacy\">NSSF<\/a>, puts a stop to certain credit card tracking when folks buy guns or ammo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Say goodbye to credit card snooping! The new law blocks the use of specific codes &#8212; Merchant Category Codes (MCCs)\u00a0&#8212;  that used to track firearm purchases. It also slams the door on any attempts to create gun registries from these purchases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawrence G. Keane from NSSF is all smiles. He&#8217;s thanking Governor Gordon for stepping up against &#8220;woke&#8221; Wall Street tactics. This law ensures that buying guns and ammo stays a private affair, free from nosy financial institutions or government lists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-indiana-and-utah-boost-2a-privacy-with-new-laws\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/indiana-and-utah-boost-2a-privacy-with-new-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"wyoming-stands-up-for-gun-privacy\" title=\"Wyoming Stands Up for Gun Privacy\">Indiana and Utah Boost 2A Privacy with New Laws<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>NSSF and Wyoming lawmakers teamed up to keep gun buys private and politics-free. This law is a shield against misuse of financial data for political gains or unlawful government searches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember the Jan. 6, 2020, controversy? The U.S. Treasury&#8217;s FinCEN got <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/biden-admin-confirms-terms-maga-trump-kamala-private-bank-transaction-searches\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"wyoming-stands-up-for-gun-privacy\" title=\"Wyoming Stands Up for Gun Privacy\">caught<\/a> red-handed, tracking gun purchases without warrants. This new law says &#8216;no way&#8217; to such illegal snooping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But where did this idea of tracking gun buys even come from? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Look no further than <em>New York Times<\/em>&#8216; columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/02\/07\/how-amalgamated-bank-became-the-the-lefts-private-banker\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"wyoming-stands-up-for-gun-privacy\" title=\"Wyoming Stands Up for Gun Privacy\">Amalgamated Bank<\/a>. These anti-gun voices pushed for special codes to track gun sales. NSSF is calling for a congressional probe into this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sorkin even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssf.org\/articles\/gun-control-reveals-merchant-code-is-stepping-stone-to-watchlists-and-bans\/?hilite=sorkin\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"wyoming-stands-up-for-gun-privacy\" title=\"Wyoming Stands Up for Gun Privacy\">hinted<\/a> this could lead to a national gun registry. That&#8217;s a no-no under federal law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wyoming now joins nine other states in shielding Second Amendment privacy. And on the national scene, U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik is pushing a similar bill in Congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, California&#8217;s Gov. Gavin Newsom took the opposite route, requiring those special tracking codes. Colorado might follow suit.
