Jeff Landry made waves this week in Baton Rouge by signing 11 pivotal bills into law, all passed during a Special Session dedicated to crime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the outset of his term, Landry made a pledge to be laser-focused on crime reform and the bills inked on Tuesday reflect that commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-among-the-signed-bills-are-critical-reforms-including\">Among the signed bills are critical reforms including:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SB 9: Preserving Prosecutions for Rape<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HB 3: Expanding Access to Drug Courts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HB 6: Justice for Victims&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HB 9: Probation and Parole Violations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HB 10: Truth in Sentencing&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HB 11: Offender Rehabilitation&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SB 1: Constitutional Carry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SB 2: Concealed Carry Permit Immunity&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SB 7: DUI Penalties<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HB 4: Post Conviction Reform&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SB 5: Pardon and Parole Reform<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Gov. Landry&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.louisiana.gov\/index.cfm\/newsroom\/detail\/4439\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"louisiana-becomes-28th-constitutional-carry-state\" title=\"Louisiana Becomes 28th Constitutional Carry State\">statement<\/a> underscored the triumph. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday, we made good on our promise to deliver sweeping reforms to our criminal justice system. Reforms that put the interests of victims before the interests of criminals,&#8221; said Gov. Landry.  &#8220;Reforms that uplift and support our police officers. Reforms that deliver true justice to the victims of crime. Reforms that make our streets and communities safer for all.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I am proud of the work we have accomplished, and I am thankful to the victims of crime, the legislature, and all those involved in this special session. This is just the beginning of our work for a safer Louisiana,\u201d Gov. Landry concluded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ccrkba-cheers-gov-landry-s-signing-of-constitutional-carry-law\"><strong>CCRKBA Cheers Gov. Landry&#8217;s Signing of Constitutional Carry Law<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Louisiana lawmakers give final approval for concealed carry bill\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KD40LAvk-7c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) is applauding the governor for endorsing Constitutional Carry into law, making Louisiana the 28th state where no permit is required to carry firearms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CCRKBA&#8217;s Chairman, Alan Gottlieb, praised the move as a win for public safety and a restoration of a fundamental self-defense right. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He criticized the other states as treating their citizens as second-class by not adopting similar laws. Louisiana joins an ever-growing list of states upholding the &#8220;Constitutional Carry&#8221; right, with the new law aptly set to take effect on July 4th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gottlieb noted the historical absurdity of permit requirements for carrying firearms for protection, lauding the state&#8217;s return to foundational liberties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He closed with a nod to the inefficacy of gun laws on criminal behavior and commended Louisiana&#8217;s lawmakers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAfter all,\u201d said Gottlieb, \u201ccriminals don\u2019t bother with permits, or any of the other restrictive gun laws that have prevented honest citizens from defending themselves and their families. Our hats are off to Louisiana lawmakers and especially Gov.
