In a bold move this week, Gun Owners of America (GOA) and Gun Owners Foundation (GOF) have set their legal sights on New York’s “Concealed Carry Improvement Act,<\/a>” petitioning the U.S. Supreme Court for a writ of certiorari<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This action follows the passage of a law they believe not only misses the mark but also blatantly ignores previous Supreme Court rulings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The draconian legislation, born in the wake of a Supreme Court slap-down of New York’s may-issue concealed carry permitting scheme, is completely wrongheaded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, one can argue that the new law is even more restrictive than the one previously shot down in the Bruen<\/em> decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GOA didn’t waste any time challenging the law in federal court, where Judge Glenn Suddaby repeatedly sided with them, blocking several key provisions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the plot thickened as the Second Circuit Court of Appeals stepped in, siding with the law’s anti-gun supporters and keeping much of it intact. This intervention has led to today’s high-stakes filing with the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
