They taped the &#8220;Capital City Gun Safety Act&#8221; to the Capitol doors, appealing directly to lawmakers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Joined by Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes, the organization&#8217;s demands were clear.  A complete (and <em>unconstitutional<\/em>) halt on firearm and ammunition sales in the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They believe stopping these sales will reduce the city&#8217;s high crime rate.  Ten homicides have already taken place this year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have marched, we have begged, we have picketed, we have done everything humanly possible to stop this gun violence,&#8221; said Councilman Stokes in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjtv.com\/news\/crime-crisis-focused-on-solutions\/jackson-councilman-holds-stop-the-violence-motorcade-march\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"activist-group-wants-to-ban-gun-sales-in-jackson-mississippi\" title=\"Activist Group Wants to Ban Gun Sales in Jackson, Mississippi\"><em>WJTV<\/em><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;They have hired more police officers, but we do not have a state law that prohibits and again, I must say it, the advertising and sale of firearms and ammunition within the city limits of Jackson,&#8221; he continued. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-ann-coulter-blasts-media-for-racial-bias-in-active-shooter-coverage-is-she-right\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/ann-coulter-blasts-media-for-racial-bias-in-active-shooter-coverage-is-she-right\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"activist-group-wants-to-ban-gun-sales-in-jackson-mississippi\" title=\"Activist Group Wants to Ban Gun Sales in Jackson, Mississippi\">Ann Coulter Blasts Media for Racial Bias in Active Shooter Coverage \u2014 Is She Right?<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Bringing all these gun shows, come in here dropping off guns, pawn shops and everything else has got to stop,\u201d Stokes added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This rally was their third this year. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wjtv.com\/news\/crime-crisis-focused-on-solutions\/jackson-councilman-holds-stop-the-violence-motorcade-march\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"activist-group-wants-to-ban-gun-sales-in-jackson-mississippi\" title=\"Activist Group Wants to Ban Gun Sales in Jackson, Mississippi\">symbolic motorcade<\/a> of funeral cars highlighted potential future victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their legislative push coincides with Gov. Tate Reeves&#8217; &#8220;Operation Unified&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/mississippi-capitol-crime-5957ddea7d015b8d0bf1f77dc6540b84\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"activist-group-wants-to-ban-gun-sales-in-jackson-mississippi\" title=\"Activist Group Wants to Ban Gun Sales in Jackson, Mississippi\">announcement<\/a>. This operation involves the FBI, Capitol Police, and Homeland Security combating drug trafficking and violent crime. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gov. Reeves alluded to.
