According to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/katu.com\/news\/local\/harney-county-judge-rules-oregon-voter-approved-gun-safety-law-is-unconstitutional-firearms-measure-114-m114-portland-salem-news\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"oregon-ballot-measure-114-declared-unconstitutional-but-fights-not-over\" title=\"Oregon Ballot Measure 114 Declared Unconstitutional -- But Fight's Not Over\">ABC 2,<\/a><\/em> the state has announced it will appeal the ruling, a move expected to incur significant costs for Oregon taxpayers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, the OFF highlighted potential bias in the Oregon Appeals Court, specifically calling out Judge Jim Egan for his alleged derogatory remarks about gun owners.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-the-rollout-of-oregon-s-ballot-measure-114-is-a-total-disaster\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/the-rollout-of-oregons-ballot-measure-114-is-a-total-disaster-heres-the-latest\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"oregon-ballot-measure-114-declared-unconstitutional-but-fights-not-over\" title=\"Oregon Ballot Measure 114 Declared Unconstitutional -- But Fight's Not Over\">The Rollout of Oregon\u2019s Ballot Measure 114 is a Total Disaster<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Measure 114 was initially passed <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Oregon_Measure_114,_Changes_to_Firearm_Ownership_and_Purchase_Requirements_Initiative_(2022)#Election_results\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"oregon-ballot-measure-114-declared-unconstitutional-but-fights-not-over\" title=\"Oregon Ballot Measure 114 Declared Unconstitutional -- But Fight's Not Over\">by a razor-thin majority <\/a>with the intent of imposing stricter gun-control measures in the state.  Such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The creation of a permit-to-purchase (PtP) scheme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bans of magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And a requirement that background checks be completed prior to the transfer of any firearm in the state, closing the so-called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nraila.org\/get-the-facts\/what-is-the-charleston-loophole\/#:~:text=The%203%20day%20proceed%20to,our%20current%20background%20check%20system.\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"oregon-ballot-measure-114-declared-unconstitutional-but-fights-not-over\" title=\"Oregon Ballot Measure 114 Declared Unconstitutional -- But Fight's Not Over\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cCharleston Loophole.\u201d<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This decision at the state level currently halts the implementation of Measure 114, despite a separate federal court ruling that upheld the measure under federal law.
