Oppressive regimes thrive with disarmed populations. Tyrants love an unarmed citizenry. It\u2019s the best way to ensure they remain in power. It also makes it easier for them to take out their enemies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Musk&#8217;s reference to history is not without precedent.  In the late 1930s for example, Hitler continued a policy of civil disarmament, specifically targeting Jews. The Nazis implemented the <a href=\"https:\/\/wyoleg.gov\/InterimCommittee\/2019\/01-201910313-04Handout.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"elon-musk-on-2a-armed-citizens-are-essential-to-democracy\" title=\"Elon Musk on 2A: Armed Citizens Are Essential to Democracy\">1938 German Weapons Act<\/a>, which prohibited Jews from owning firearms and other weapons. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This disarmament made Jewish communities vulnerable. They&#8217;re dead wrong!  Small arms <em>do<\/em> belong in the hands of law-abiding citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We know this because we&#8217;ve seen the alternative.  It&#8217;s a reality where governments, despots, terrorists can run rough-shod over entire communities with impunity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>History speaks clearly: a disarmed populace is a vulnerable one.
