This law aimed to prevent individuals between the ages of 18 and 20 from purchasing rifles and shotguns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before the law even settled, RMGO members swiftly filed a challenge in federal court. Chief Judge Philip A. Brimmer responded favorably for RMGO, ordering a stay on the law due to its &#8220;likelihood of success.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Colorado&#8217;s legislation aligned with a federal statute. The latter already prohibits licensed firearms dealers from selling handguns to individuals below 21. However, this federal ban faces scrutiny, especially following the Supreme Court decision in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/fedsoc.org\/case\/new-york-state-rifle-pistol-association-v-bruen?gclid=CjwKCAjw8symBhAqEiwAaTA__MmSmFdrZtULJ9S1ndLQonDYPNPiXYLz5QUKCYN4WgVMNeHonhV9xBoCSOMQAvD_BwE\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"rmgo-secure-preliminary-injunction-against-colorado-age-based-gun-ban\" title=\"RMGO Secure Preliminary Injunction Against Colorado Age-Based Gun Ban\">NYSRPA v.
