Don Beyer (VA) is joined by 24 other House Dems in bringing back what\u2019s known as the \u201cAssault Weapons Excise Tax.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/118th-congress\/house-bill\/5135?s=1&amp;r=1\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"dems-push-1000-percent-excise-tax-on-assault-weapons\" title=\"Dems Push 1000 Percent Excise Tax on 'Assault Weapons'\">H.R.5135<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; \u201cTo amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to impose an additional 1,000 percent excise tax on the sale of large capacity ammunition feeding devices and semiautomatic assault weapons, and for other purposes,\u201d reads the filing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">While the full text of this year\u2019s iteration has yet to be released, the <a href=\"https:\/\/beyer.house.gov\/uploadedfiles\/awe_act_text.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"dems-push-1000-percent-excise-tax-on-assault-weapons\" title=\"Dems Push 1000 Percent Excise Tax on 'Assault Weapons'\">2022 version <\/a>placed the tax on any centerfire semi-automatic rifle, shotgun, or pistol that can accept a detachable magazine and has any one of a list of distinguishing features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The &quot;Assault Weapon&quot; Tax Act may be a Democrat-sponsored bill, but any Republican not publicly denouncing this insanity may as well sign their name to it.<br \/><br \/>Partisan politics has given Fudds a pass for far too long.
