The bill proposes a larger gun ban than any existing US law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill includes the following provisions that have alarmed the NAGR:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Updates the state definition of \u201cAssault-style firearm\u201d to ban almost all semiautomatic firearms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bans concealed carry of firearms at private businesses unless expressly permitted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retroactive compulsory registration of all firearms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registration of all firearms magazines\/feeding devices, no grandfathering.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Requires all feeding devices\/magazines to have a serial number.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ban for anyone under age 21 from buying or carrying a semi-automatic shotgun or rifle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lays out compulsory \u201csafe storage\u201d requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Changes the definition of firearm to include stun guns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Puts more regulations on firearms dealers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to the bill, NAGR president, Dudley Brown, issued a warning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is probably the biggest and worst package of gun control regulation I have ever seen, and that is saying a lot. A ban on almost all guns, registration of every gun and magazine in the state (old and new) and a de facto ban on firearms carry are in the offing,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-see-also-new-jersey-lawmakers-rush-to-restrict-2a-rights-in-wake-of-bruen-decision\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/new-jersey-lawmakers-rush-to-restrict-2a-rights-in-wake-of-bruen-decision\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"pro-2a-group-issues-travel-advisory-in-massachusetts-amid-gun-control-controversy\" title=\"Pro-2A Group Issues Travel Advisory in Massachusetts Amid Gun Control Controversy\">New Jersey Lawmakers Rush to Restrict 2A Rights in Wake of Bruen Decision&nbsp;<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Massachusetts just secured top position as the most hostile state in the union to gun owners,\u201d he added.  Therefore, NAGR advises caution for all gun owners in the state or intending to travel there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYour gun rights and your freedom are at serious risk in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. If you live there you might want to pack your bags and if you are thinking of traveling there, you need to reconsider,\u201d said Brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NAGR is urging members to voice opposition to HD 4420 to the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Democratic Representative Michael Day, the author of the bill, commented on the situation in an interview with <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/gun-rights-group-issues-travel-advisory-massachusetts-lawmaker-proposes-more-firearm-restrictions\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"pro-2a-group-issues-travel-advisory-in-massachusetts-amid-gun-control-controversy\" title=\"Pro-2A Group Issues Travel Advisory in Massachusetts Amid Gun Control Controversy\">Boston 25,<\/a><\/em> a FOX affiliate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re not trying to go after or criminalize proper license [holders], people who can responsibly carry a firearm,&#8221; he explained.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This is really intending to get at those that are evading our code of laws through the advancement of technology and criminal behavior,&#8221; Day added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In September 2022, the National Foundation for Gun Rights, NAGR&#8217;s legal arm, filed a lawsuit. This suit\u2014<em><a href=\"https:\/\/dockets.justia.com\/docket\/massachusetts\/madce\/1:2022cv11431\/247928\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"pro-2a-group-issues-travel-advisory-in-massachusetts-amid-gun-control-controversy\" title=\"Pro-2A Group Issues Travel Advisory in Massachusetts Amid Gun Control Controversy\">Capen v. Healey<\/a><\/em>\u2014challenges Massachusetts&#8217;s existing ban on \u201cassault weapons\u201d and standard-capacity magazines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawsuit asserts that this ban contravenes the 2022 Supreme Court ruling in the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/new-jersey-lawmakers-rush-to-restrict-2a-rights-in-wake-of-bruen-decision\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"pro-2a-group-issues-travel-advisory-in-massachusetts-amid-gun-control-controversy\" title=\"Pro-2A Group Issues Travel Advisory in Massachusetts Amid Gun Control Controversy\">NYSRPA V. Bruen<\/a><\/em> case.
