The Michigan State Senate this week continued its efforts to infringe on citizens\u2019 2A rights. On Wednesday, Senate Democrats passed another constitutionally dubious firearm regulation bill<\/a>, a so-called \u201cred flag\u201d law.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The legislation passed along party lines with a vote of 20-17. This is the third major gun reform package state Democrats have pushed through in the wake of the MSU shooting. The previous two, focused on “universal” background checks and “safe storage” of firearms, were signed by Gov. Whitmer last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, this legislation is the first of a four-bill package to institute firearm confiscation laws. \u00a0The other three bills are expected to hit the Senate Floor today. They extend “red flag” infringements<\/a> by removing a person’s right to buy a firearm if they are under such orders (HB4146), remove fees from “red flag” petitions (HB 4147), and impose penalties against individuals who violate a “red flag” order (HB 4148). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
