Wrench<\/a> <\/section> <\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/embed.js\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to his video, he originally discovered that there were several people outside his home around 3 a.m. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/watch-dad-stop-home-invasion-attempt-1825473\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"video-home-invaders-caught-on-security-camera-return-to-scene\" title=\"WATCH: Home Invaders Caught on Security Camera, Return to Scene\"><em>Newsweek<\/em><\/a> says he discovered a man in his security feed and was \u201cstartled\u201d when the man went to cover a camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-caught-on-security-cameras\">Caught On Security Cameras<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Duhigg explained that there is a large gate around his home and that four strangers were standing around it. In his TikTok video, he points out a place in the audio where it appeared one of the intruders racked the slide of a pistol.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point, Duhigg went outside \u201cand looked around the corner at the security gate.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He told <em>Newsweek<\/em>, \u201cI grabbed my shotgun and headed out to stop them.\u201d He says the men began to bang on the gate before running away.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When examining the footage from this part of the incident Duhigg noticed the placement of the strange men. He told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox7austin.com\/news\/arizona-father-shares-security-footage-of-what-he-believes-was-an-attempted-home-invasion\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"video-home-invaders-caught-on-security-camera-return-to-scene\" title=\"WATCH: Home Invaders Caught on Security Camera, Return to Scene\"><em>Fox 7<\/em><\/a>, \u201cFour young males between probably 18 and 20, something like that. Three of them were lining up next to the door. One of them was coming up to the door.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m a retired violent crimes detective.\u201d He continued, \u201cThat&#8217;s a textbook home invasion. Duhigg called the police and began pulling up old security footage for evidence. Additionally, they egged his truck and sidewalk.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cyber-bullies-attack-again\">Cyber Bullies Attack Again<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Duhigg apparently then woke his son before the police arrived to ask him if he knew anything. Jake Duhigg, at 20 years old, has high-functioning autism and lives with his father. He denied knowing anything and went back to sleep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Duhigg says that things just weren\u2019t adding up. He eventually woke Jake again, asking him to come watch the video. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duhigg said, &#8220;I had him look at the video and listen to their voices. As he did, he told me they were a group that had been bullying him online for a month or so for having autism and being Latino. Earlier that day, they told him they were going to come to my house and &#8216;get&#8217; us.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon further questioning, they learned that the cyber-bullies turned home invaders had pretended to befriend Jake and he had given them his address.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-no-accounting-for-brains\">No Accounting For Brains<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At that point, police were given enough information to begin searching for the individuals involved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duhigg said he felt their decision was very \u201cdumb\u201d especially their choice to return after being caught. \u201cThey were risking their lives doing this,\u201d he told<a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2023\/09\/05\/caught-camera-attempted-home-invasion-mesa-going-viral-tiktok\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"video-home-invaders-caught-on-security-camera-return-to-scene\" title=\"WATCH: Home Invaders Caught on Security Camera, Return to Scene\"> <em>Arizona Family News<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThere\u2019s just no accounting for brains.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duhigg says that it seems the intruders \u201cdidn\u2019t really want to get in, but they wanted to make us think they were trying to get in to kill us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mesa homeowner believes he was target of home invasion\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-tcXknzWsog?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Watch the report from <em>Arizona Family News<\/em> for more details<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-security-cameras-and-shotguns\">Security Cameras And Shotguns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Duhigg says that he would do anything to protect what he loves most. Both of his children are special needs. \u201cI need to make sure that they\u2019re extra safe because they can\u2019t really help themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This would have been a scary situation to deal with as a parent trying to protect loved ones. Thankfully, Duhigg emphasized that no shots were fired.
