They just want you to hold on long enough to alter your will or living trust to fork over whatever money you won\u2019t need in the afterlife to their favorite cause \u2013 stripping Americans of their Second Amendment freedoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It would be easy to miss if you\u2019re not on the Giffords email lists. They\u2019re not putting out reverse-mortgage-style commercials, but Rob Romano at Firearms Policy Coalition\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/2Aupdates\/status\/1696548957176938783\/photo\/1\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"giffords-gun-control-tries-ill-fundraising-scheme\" title=\"Giffords Gun Control Tries 'ILL' Fundraising Scheme\">posted to X<\/a><\/strong>, the social media site formerly called Twitter, of his personal appeal for his money should the unfortunate happen. For him, at least. Giffords Law Center is looking to make a windfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Giffords asks supporters to &quot;help hold the gun lobby accountable&quot; by putting the organization in their will or designating it as a beneficiary on their retirement\/life insurance plans: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/JuRegGP5Wq\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"giffords-gun-control-tries-ill-fundraising-scheme\" title=\"Giffords Gun Control Tries 'ILL' Fundraising Scheme\">pic.twitter.com\/JuRegGP5Wq<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Rob Romano (@2Aupdates) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/2Aupdates\/status\/1696548957176938783?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"giffords-gun-control-tries-ill-fundraising-scheme\" title=\"Giffords Gun Control Tries 'ILL' Fundraising Scheme\">August 29, 2023<\/a><\/blockquote> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n\n\n\n<p>The money will be surely well spent. Giffords\u2019 solicitation claims that by putting affirmations into action, bequeathed money will \u201ckeep yourself and loved ones safe while fighting for laws, policies, and programs proven to save lives long into the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t think that Giffords is suddenly going to advocate for actually locking up criminals that misuse firearms, hold corrupt and soft-on-crime, George Soros-backed district attorneys accountable for turning America\u2019s metropolitan areas into post-apocalyptic hellscapes or backing programs that actually teach firearm safety and safe firearm storage. They won\u2019t go that far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Giffords said in their solicitation that pledges made to Giffords Law Center will protect people and pets in donors\u2019 lives, plan for the distribution of assets and \u201chelp hold the gun lobby accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-safeguard-the-pet-project\">Safeguard the Pet (Project)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What the money will really do is line lawyers\u2019 pockets as they drag firearm manufacturers into court over bogus claims. Giffords has a hobby-farm of lawyers and self-described \u201cexperts\u201d that specialize in blaming firearm manufacturers for the harm caused by criminals. They use the courts to try to convince judges and juries that a firearm that was lawfully made and lawfully sold, and subsequently misused by a criminal to harm someone else, is somehow the fault of the manufacturer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/fn-509-compact-unboxed\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"giffords-gun-control-tries-ill-fundraising-scheme\" title=\"Giffords Gun Control Tries 'ILL' Fundraising Scheme\">FN 509 Compact MRD Unboxed at the Gun Counter<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s like telling Louisville Slugger that they should have known their bats would be used to assault someone, so pay up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a long-term battle that Giffords, along with Michael Bloomberg\u2019s-bankrolled Everytown for Gun Safety and Brady United, have waged to convince lawmakers to roll back the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/FFLProtectionAct2020Factsheet.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"giffords-gun-control-tries-ill-fundraising-scheme\" title=\"Giffords Gun Control Tries 'ILL' Fundraising Scheme\"><strong>Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA)<\/strong><\/a>. That\u2019s the law enacted in 2005, after both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate passed with a wide bipartisan consensus, that prevents frivolous lawsuits against firearm manufacturers for the harm caused by the criminal misuse of their products by remote third parties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bogus-attacks\">Bogus Attacks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These lawsuits were never successful when they were tried in the late 1990s and early 2000s. That was also the same time when President Bill Clinton\u2019s Housing and Urban Development Secretary Andrew Cuomo said the point of all those lawsuits wasn\u2019t to be successful. It was to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fedsoc.org\/commentary\/fedsoc-blog\/the-truth-about-plcaa\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"giffords-gun-control-tries-ill-fundraising-scheme\" title=\"Giffords Gun Control Tries 'ILL' Fundraising Scheme\"><strong>inflict overwhelming legal costs<\/strong>,<\/a>&nbsp;or \u201cdeath by a thousand cuts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That was at the same time the Clinton administration was twisting the arms of firearm manufacturers to get them to support gun control legislation. The Federalist Society noted that then-New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer tried to coerce Glock into going along with gun control by offering a crime syndicate-style offer \u2013 one they couldn\u2019t refuse. He told them to sign an agreement to cave to President Clinton\u2019s gun control demands and if they didn\u2019t, AG Spitzer&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fedsoc.org\/commentary\/fedsoc-blog\/the-truth-about-plcaa\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"giffords-gun-control-tries-ill-fundraising-scheme\" title=\"Giffords Gun Control Tries 'ILL' Fundraising Scheme\">promised<\/a>,<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cif you do not sign, your bankruptcy lawyers will be knocking at your door.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These two actors of course later were elected governor of New York. Both&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fedsoc.org\/commentary\/fedsoc-blog\/the-truth-about-plcaa\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"giffords-gun-control-tries-ill-fundraising-scheme\" title=\"Giffords Gun Control Tries 'ILL' Fundraising Scheme\"><strong>Gov. Spitzer<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/politics-news\/new-york-gov-andrew-cuomo-resigns-n1260310\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"giffords-gun-control-tries-ill-fundraising-scheme\" title=\"Giffords Gun Control Tries 'ILL' Fundraising Scheme\"><strong>Gov. Cuomo<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;resigned from office for separate sex scandals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Giffords believes it knows best what to do with your money. After all,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/orgs\/giffords\/summary?toprecipcycle=2022&amp;contribcycle=2022&amp;lobcycle=2022&amp;outspendcycle=2022&amp;id=D000068779&amp;topnumcycle=A\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"giffords-gun-control-tries-ill-fundraising-scheme\" title=\"Giffords Gun Control Tries 'ILL' Fundraising Scheme\"><strong>Giffords PAC<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;has given over $1.7 million in contributions to gun control candidates since 1990.
