Ten years later, they just changed the rule without going through Congress.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;So, this is a Constitutional concern, but Democrats had already been talking about making everything political, so we just decided to postpone,&#8221; he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The ATF Ruling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>ATF Director Steven Dettelbach justified the ATF ruling stating, \u201ccertain so-called stabilizing braces are designed to just attach to pistols, essentially converting them into short-barreled rifles to be fired from the shoulder. Therefore, they must be treated in the same way under the statute.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/breaking-goa-condemns-biden-rule-to-criminalize-pistol-braced-firearms\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"markup-to-nullify-pistol-brace-ban-postponed-due-to-nashville-shooting\" title=\"Markup to Nullify Pistol Brace Ban Postponed Due to Nashville Shooting\">definition<\/a>, many previously legal AR-pistols would have to be destroyed, turned in to the government, or registered under the NFA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If owners choose to retain their pistols without registering them, they will become felons overnight starting on May 31st. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the new rule is a complete <a href=\"https:\/\/vpc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/ATF-Approval-Letter-2012.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"markup-to-nullify-pistol-brace-ban-postponed-due-to-nashville-shooting\" title=\"Markup to Nullify Pistol Brace Ban Postponed Due to Nashville Shooting\">reversal<\/a> of established ATF precedent that law-abiding citizens and the firearms industry have been following for well over a decade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Luckily, policymakers like Jordan have identified this shift <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/fireworks-at-congressional-hearing-on-atf-and-who-makes-the-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"markup-to-nullify-pistol-brace-ban-postponed-due-to-nashville-shooting\" title=\"Markup to Nullify Pistol Brace Ban Postponed Due to Nashville Shooting\">and its threat to the legislative proces<\/a>s.
