The final ruling came in January 2023, seven months after the Senate confirmed Dettelbach to lead the bureau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2012, the ATF granted initial approval for the pistol stabilizing brace attachment.  In a letter addressed to the device&#8217;s creator, Alex Bosco, the agency stated that it \u201cwould not alter the classification of a pistol or other firearm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everytown\u2019s senior director of policy, Rob Wilcox, repeatedly dodged questioning from House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) before admitting to the conversations. Trust me, you\u2019ll want to watch it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you prefer reading, here&#8217;s how the conversation played out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDid you or anyone in your organization communicate with the ATF or the Biden administration, about these issues we\u2019re discussing today prior to the notice of proposed rule-making?\u201d Jordan asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe submitted formal petitions for rule-making through the appropriate channels,\u201d Wilcox replied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBefore the notice of proposed rule-making?\u201d Jordan asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s correct,\u201d Wilcox answered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDid anyone [with Everytown] ever talk to Mr. Dettelbach about this personally?\u201d Jordan said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking a little uneasy and stammering through his reply, Wilcox said, \u201cOf course, we\u2019ve been in communication with the ATF in this administration and in prior administrations.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nice dodge, Wilcox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTalking to the director? You\u2019ve talked to the director?\u201d Jordan replied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe work with ATF across administrations,\u201d Wilcox said again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHave you talked to the director?
