In the state\u2019s latest move to crack down on &#8220;untraceable ghost guns,&#8221; Attorney General William Tong <a href=\"https:\/\/portal.ct.gov\/AG\/Press-Releases\/2023-Press-Releases\/Attorney-General-Tong-Sues-Four-Ghost-Gun-Dealers-for-Illegal-Sales-in-Connecticut\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"connecticut-ag-files-lawsuit-against-four-ghost-gun-companies\" title=\"Connecticut AG Files Lawsuit Against Four 'Ghost Gun' Companies\">announced<\/a> the civil lawsuit on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The attorney general presented the unfinished (80%) AR lower receivers that the companies were accused of sending to the investigator.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Ghost guns are an untraceable menace that exist for one reason \u2014 to evade law enforcement and registration,&#8221; Tong said. &#8220;They are a threat to public safety, and they are illegal in Connecticut.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the attorney general, the firearm companies violated both state consumer protection laws and the 2019 criminal ghost gun ban \u2013 the former carries up to a $5,000 fine per violation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the attorney general mentioned a possible violation of the 2019 law, he did not comment on any criminal investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/bare-naked-lady-wielding-frying-pan-shot-by-virginia-homeowner\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"connecticut-ag-files-lawsuit-against-four-ghost-gun-companies\" title=\"Connecticut AG Files Lawsuit Against Four 'Ghost Gun' Companies\">Bare-Naked Lady Wielding Frying Pan Shot By Virginia Homeowner<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Last year, Hartford police seized 57 &#8220;ghost guns,&#8221; more than twice the amount they seized in 2021 according to the attorney general. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/giffords.org\/lawcenter\/gun-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"connecticut-ag-files-lawsuit-against-four-ghost-gun-companies\" title=\"Connecticut AG Files Lawsuit Against Four 'Ghost Gun' Companies\">Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence<\/a> lists Connecticut as one of 11 states that put restrictions on the sale and manufacturing of unmarked gun parts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connecticut is one of several states that have taken civil action against gun companies for the sale of ghost guns, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/newsom-california-illegal-assault-weapons-ghost-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"connecticut-ag-files-lawsuit-against-four-ghost-gun-companies\" title=\"Connecticut AG Files Lawsuit Against Four 'Ghost Gun' Companies\">California<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/nyc-officials-suing-these-distributors-of-so-called-ghost-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"connecticut-ag-files-lawsuit-against-four-ghost-gun-companies\" title=\"Connecticut AG Files Lawsuit Against Four 'Ghost Gun' Companies\">New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The companies named in the lawsuit are Indie Guns of Orlando, Florida; Steel Fox Firearms of DeLand, Florida; Hell Fire Armory of Wilmington, North Carolina; and AR Industries of Orem, Utah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIndie Guns, Steel Fox Firearms, Hell Fire Armory and AR Industries all knew their ghost guns were illegal in Connecticut and they shipped these weapons to Connecticut anyway. We won\u2019t let them get away with it,&#8221; said Tong. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indie Guns owner Lawrence Destefano, whose company is also tied up in lawsuits by New York state, New York City and two other cities, denied any wrongdoing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Destefano fears the lawsuits are an attack on \u201ccraft gun ownership\u201d and another attempt by the government to keep track of gun owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The only reason these lawsuits were filed was to force a settlement that requires the defendant to turn over customer data,&#8221;
