Shots were fired and 17-year-old Angeles Zaragoza, a member of the other group, was killed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The El Paso police Sergeant, Robert Gomez told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ktsm.com\/news\/17-year-old-dies-after-cielo-vista-mall-shooting\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"lawfully-armed-texan-stops-shooter-at-el-paso-mall\" title=\"Lawfully Armed Texan Stops Shooter at El Paso Mall\"><em>KTSM<\/em><\/a> that the firearm used by the 16-year-old suspect had been reported stolen, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s always concerning especially when a 16-year-old has a stolen handgun and fires a weapon inside a very crowded mall.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/its-back-legislation-to-ban-online-ammo-sales-reintroduce\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"lawfully-armed-texan-stops-shooter-at-el-paso-mall\" title=\"Lawfully Armed Texan Stops Shooter at El Paso Mall\"> It\u2019s Back! Legislation to Ban Online Ammo Sales Reintroduce<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Two other males, a 20-year-old and a 17-year-old, were also shot before the suspect fled.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As the suspect ran towards Duran and bystanders, Duran drew his handgun and shot the suspect,&#8221; said police.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thankfully, an off-duty police officer was on hand to help apprehend the suspect and provide medical aid. The suspect, who has not been named because he is a minor, is in stable condition, and charges against him are pending.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The others who were shot are also being treated at the hospital.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/02\/18\/us\/el-paso-texas-mall-shooting-suspect-shot-civilian\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"lawfully-armed-texan-stops-shooter-at-el-paso-mall\" title=\"Lawfully Armed Texan Stops Shooter at El Paso Mall\"><em>CNN<\/em><\/a> pointed out that they didn\u2019t qualify this as a mass shooting as, according to their definition, a mass shooting is \u201ca shooting that killed or wounded four or more people, not including the shooter.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elpasotimes.com\/story\/news\/crime\/2023\/02\/17\/by-stander-shot-cielo-vista-mall-shooter-as-suspect-fled-scene\/69917660007\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"lawfully-armed-texan-stops-shooter-at-el-paso-mall\" title=\"Lawfully Armed Texan Stops Shooter at El Paso Mall\"><em>El Paso Times<\/em><\/a> reported that while Duran was the only civilian who acted, there were at least two other people present at this disaster who were legally armed.
