It even went so far as to impose fines on any law enforcement official or politician who attempted to do so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the decision, appellate court Judge Douglas Tookey said the 2A sanctuary ordinance would  \u201ccreate a \u2018patchwork quilt\u2019 of firearm laws in Oregon.\u201d And that, \u201cIt would have the potential to lead to uncertainty for firearms owners concerning the legality of their conduct as they travel from county to county.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gun rights advocates in Oregon have pointed out that a <a href=\"https:\/\/olis.oregonlegislature.gov\/liz\/2021R1\/Downloads\/MeasureDocument\/sb554\/Enrolled\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"oregon-appellate-court-overturns-2a-sanctuary-ordinance\" title=\"Oregon Appellate Court Overturns 2A Sanctuary Ordinance\">state law<\/a> the legislature passed in September 2021, which allows schools and universities across the state to outlaw firearms on their campuses, already does just that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawsuit could have a wide-ranging impact, as roughly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/national\/61-of-u-s-counties-now-second-amendment-sanctuaries\/article_12565326-d82b-11eb-8b83-8713ae288961.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"oregon-appellate-court-overturns-2a-sanctuary-ordinance\" title=\"Oregon Appellate Court Overturns 2A Sanctuary Ordinance\">1900 local jurisdictions<\/a> across the country have likewise declared themselves 2A sanctuaries since the national movement began in earnest in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a campaign=\"oregon-appellate-court-overturns-2a-sanctuary-ordinance\" title=\"Oregon Appellate Court Overturns 2A Sanctuary Ordinance\">Judge Blocks Oregon\u2019s Measure 114 \u2014 At Least for Now<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Oregon Attorney General also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opb.org\/article\/2021\/10\/01\/oregon-attorney-general-sues-yamhill-harney-counties-to-enforce-new-gun-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"oregon-appellate-court-overturns-2a-sanctuary-ordinance\" title=\"Oregon Appellate Court Overturns 2A Sanctuary Ordinance\">sued two other counties<\/a> in the state that passed sanctuary ordinances, forcing one of them to rescind their ordinance and render the state\u2019s lawsuit moot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s opinion by the court of appeals makes it clear that common sense requirements like safe storage and background checks apply throughout Oregon,\u201d attorney general Ellen Rosenblum <a href=\"https:\/\/www.doj.state.or.us\/media-home\/news-media-releases\/ag-rosenblum-statement-on-columbia-county-gun-safety-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"oregon-appellate-court-overturns-2a-sanctuary-ordinance\" title=\"Oregon Appellate Court Overturns 2A Sanctuary Ordinance\">said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cHopefully, other counties with similar measures on the books will see the writing on the wall.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the court case has invalidated the local sanctuary ordinance, multiple law enforcement agencies and district attorneys across the state have indicated that they would not be taking action against their residents for violations of firearms laws that they believe violate their residents\u2019 constitutional rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With so many other jurisdictions\u2019 ordinances and resolutions in place, Wednesday\u2019s court finding is sure to be the first in a long line of challenges and adjustments as local 2A supporters try to secure their rights against distant and overreaching firearms regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\" style=\"font-size:24px\"><strong><em>*** <a
