Rules for thee, not for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Busse\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/alex-christy\/2023\/01\/03\/msnbc-gun-control-traffic-laws-war-more-controlled\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong>latest lamentation<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;is that America has too many guns and they should be regulated like cars. He made the comparison while a guest on the rarely-watched Ali Velshi\u2019s MSNBC show. That\u2019s the same Velshi who insanely tried to convince the American public that their eyes were lying to them in live footage of cities being burned and looted weren\u2019t that at all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis, is uh, mostly a protest,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/only-some-kinds-of-protest-are-always-mostly-peaceful\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong>Velshi said<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;as cities burned across the country in 2020. \u201cIt is not, generally speaking, unruly. But fires have been started.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That same news host who told America not to believe what they witnessed live on television called on Busse, a Senior Advisor to Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, to pontificate over a Georgia provocateur who carried several firearms \u2013 legally \u2013 on his person while grocery shopping. This is where Busse exposed his hypocrisy \u2013 several times over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Too Much Freedom<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe tragedy isn\u2019t what\u2019s illegal, the tragedy here is what is legal. And as you note, this guy didn\u2019t need six loaded guns, including an AR and a tactical shotgun to go grocery shopping, right,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/alex-christy\/2023\/01\/03\/msnbc-gun-control-traffic-laws-war-more-controlled\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong>Busse said<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s start there. There\u2019s room for debate about whether it\u2019s a good idea to be blatantly provocative by carrying several firearms to shop for groceries. Most gun owners prefer that others never know about the guns they carry. That\u2019s why there are at least&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/crimeresearch.org\/2022\/11\/concealed-carry-permit-holders-across-the-united-states-2021-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong>22 million<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;concealed carry permit holders carrying firearms legally every day. The Second Amendment protects the right to keep and bear arms. That\u2019s the end of the argument. The U.S. Supreme Court affirmed as much not only in the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/supreme.justia.com\/cases\/federal\/us\/554\/570\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><em>Heller<\/em><\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/supreme.justia.com\/cases\/federal\/us\/561\/742\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><em>McDonald<\/em><\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;decisions but again in the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/21pdf\/20-843_7j80.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><em>Bruen<\/em><\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe constitutional right to bear arms in public for self-defense is not \u2018a second-class right, subject to an entirely different body of rules than the other Bill of Rights guarantees,\u2019\u201d Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in the majority&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/21pdf\/20-843_7j80.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong><em>Bruen<\/em>&nbsp;decision<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cWe know of no other constitutional right that an individual may exercise only after demonstrating to government officers some special need. That is not how the First Amendment works when it comes to unpopular speech or the free exercise of religion. It is not how the Sixth Amendment works when it comes to a defendant\u2019s right to confront the witnesses against him. And it is not how the Second Amendment works when it comes to public carry for self-defense.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No one&nbsp;<em>needs<\/em>&nbsp;to hear Busse bloviate about gun control in the liberal MSNBC echo chamber, but it is his right. In fact, it is encouraged so everyone can know of his hypocrisy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Car Comparison<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Busse doesn\u2019t end there, though. He compares an enumerated right to a government privilege of operating a motor vehicle on public roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI mean, I think Americans really need to think about it this way,\u201d Busse\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/alex-christy\/2023\/01\/03\/msnbc-gun-control-traffic-laws-war-more-controlled\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\">attempted to explain<\/a><\/strong>. \u201cWe have about 270 million registered vehicles in the United States, and you don\u2019t have to travel on many of our roads to know it seems pretty crowded. We have a lot of traffic laws, right? We\u2019ve got lines on the road, we\u2019ve got bumpers, we\u2019ve got speed limits, we\u2019ve got police that are patrolling everything.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sure, there are thousands upon thousands of traffic laws. There are also thousands upon thousands of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5169210\/us-gun-control-laws-history-timeline\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong>gun control laws<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;on the books, including federal, state and local laws. That doesn\u2019t account for the hundreds of rules promulgated by both federal and state governments to produce, sell and own a firearm. The firearm industry is among the most regulated industries. Busse casually ignores that no one buying a car has to pass an FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) verification, like they do if they are buying a firearm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018I\u2019m Fine. Others \u2013 Not So Much\u2019<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got 415 million guns in the United States and we have the NRA and the NSSF and an irresponsible slice of the American gun consumers, of which I\u2019m not one of those, I\u2019m a proud gun owner, I hunted yesterday with my boys,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/alex-christy\/2023\/01\/03\/msnbc-gun-control-traffic-laws-war-more-controlled\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong>he added<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong>&nbsp;Busse liked the car comparison so much he threw every responsible gun owner and the industry under the bus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a naked attempt to smear NSSF. This isn\u2019t new for Busse. Since he joined forces with Giffords gun control group, he\u2019s targeted The Firearm Industry Trade Association. He says he\u2019s not among the \u201cslice\u201d of irresponsible gun owners. He\u2019s also not part of the solutions. NSSF campaigns on several firearm safety programs through&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssfrealsolutions.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong>Real Solutions. Safer Communities\u00ae<\/strong><\/a>, which includes initiatives that have been recognized by the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssf.org\/articles\/nssfs-project-childsafe-named-finalist-prestigious-national-safety-council-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\">National Safety Council\u2019s Green Cross Awards<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssf.org\/articles\/government-report-supports-project-childsafe-effectiveness\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong>Government<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Accountability Office<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;for their efficacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NSSF led the way in improving background checks for gun purchases. Bipartisan legislation led by U.S. Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssf.org\/articles\/nssf-commends-u-s-sen-cornyn-for-fix-nics-legislation\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong>FIX NICS Act<\/strong><\/a>, was named for NSSF\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nssf.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/NSSF-factsheet-FixNICS-State-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong>Fix NICS\u00ae<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0program that improves the FBI\u2019s background check system. That bill had 78 Senate co-sponsors, including some of the most ardent gun control Democrats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut I\u2019m not okay living in a country with 415 million guns where we\u2019re reducing the amount of controls on ourselves,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbusters.org\/blogs\/nb\/alex-christy\/2023\/01\/03\/msnbc-gun-control-traffic-laws-war-more-controlled\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\"><strong>Busse continued<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cThat\u2019s just insane. We wouldn\u2019t roll back the laws on 270 million cars, right? You have more cars, you need more to control them so the people can stay safe. After all, the self-aggrandizing gun control mouthpiece, claimed in his book that he sold more .45-caliber 1911 handguns than John Browning \u2013 the gun\u2019s inventor. That would have to be in the millions, especially considering the M1911 was the standard military-issue sidearm from 1911-1985. American troops carried this actual \u201cweapon of war\u201d in WWI, WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite Busse\u2019s boastful claims of being an \u201cindustry insider,\u201d he\u2019s been&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.guns.com\/news\/2021\/01\/28\/kimber-disavows-anti-constitutional-carry-former-exec\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"ryan-busse-corporate-hypocrite-should-give-up-his-guns-first\" title=\"Ryan Busse, Corporate Hypocrite, Should Give Up His Guns First\">disavowed<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;by his former employer Leslie Edleman, the CEO and Owner of Kimber USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s time for all gun owners to repudiate this narcissistic hypocrite. He claims to speak for responsible gun owners. Except his version of responsible gun ownership is to deny the ability of everyone else to own firearms of their choice.
