Fenberg told the publication. &nbsp;\u201cThe question now is: What seems like a priority?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Democrats return to the Colorado Capitol in January\u00a0with majorities in both the House and Senate. There is mounting public pressure to act on a legislative level after the mass shooting at Club Q where five people were killed and more than a dozen others wounded on Nov. 19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/cnn-anchor-left-speechless-after-reporting-that-the-club-q-shooter-is-genderqueer\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"club-q-shooting-prompts-potential-for-assault-weapons-ban-in-colorado\" title=\"Club Q Shooting Prompts Potential for 'Assault Weapons' Ban in Colorado\">CNN Anchor Left Speechless After Reporting that the Club Q Shooter Is Genderqueer<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The attack was allegedly carried out by a 22-year-old shooter with a semi-automatic rifle.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Club Q shooting suspect evaded Colorado&#039;s red flag gun law\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/t6DD1ry9dRY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adam Shore, who helps run the lobbying arm of the nonprofit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coloradoceasefire.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"club-q-shooting-prompts-potential-for-assault-weapons-ban-in-colorado\" title=\"Club Q Shooting Prompts Potential for 'Assault Weapons' Ban in Colorado\">Colorado Ceasefire<\/a>, says that while mental health is a concern that needs to be addressed, so do &#8220;assault weapons.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c[Colorado needs] to get to the root of what is driving these individuals to kill others, while simultaneously reducing the mayhem by ensuring that these weapons of war are confined to where they truly belong \u2014 the battlefield,&#8221; said Shore.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aside from prohibitions on modern sporting rifles, Colorado is weighing the options of tightening the state&#8217;s red flag laws &#8212; which temporarily disarm people who are accused, not convicted, of being a threat to the public or themselves.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/colorado-couple-charged-with-murder-after-woman-shoots-alleged-intruder\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"club-q-shooting-prompts-potential-for-assault-weapons-ban-in-colorado\" title=\"Club Q Shooting Prompts Potential for 'Assault Weapons' Ban in Colorado\">Colorado Couple Charged with Murder After Woman Shoots Alleged Intruder<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fenberg went on to say that he supports the proposed overhaul and is prepared to broker those changes with Republicans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, he acknowledged to the <em>Colorado Sun <\/em>the difficulty that comes with banning so-called &#8220;assault weapons.&#8221; As first lawmakers have to define precisely what they are and then decide whether they&#8217;re going to confiscate those &#8220;assault weapons&#8221; already in circulation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always said that I support an assault weapons ban. I don\u2019t think in this day and age it makes sense that people can purchase weapons of war. It\u2019s something (where) we have to make sure the policy is right. I think there\u2019s still ongoing conversations about what the policy would be,&#8221; he said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, on the other side of the gun divide, Alan Gottlieb, the founder of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saf.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"club-q-shooting-prompts-potential-for-assault-weapons-ban-in-colorado\" title=\"Club Q Shooting Prompts Potential for 'Assault Weapons' Ban in Colorado\">Second Amendment Foundation<\/a>, issued a stern warning to Colorado&#8217;s pro-gun control politicians.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Gun prohibitionist Democrats in Colorado are aiming to be sued,&#8221;
