autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a sad week for gun owners in the Beaver State as Ballot Measure 114 passed into law by the narrowest of margins with just over 50 percent of voters favoring it. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ballot Measure 114 <a href=\"https:\/\/ballotpedia.org\/Oregon_Measure_114,_Changes_to_Firearm_Ownership_and_Purchase_Requirements_Initiative_(2022)\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"anti-gun-billionaires-win-as-oregon-ballot-measure-114-passes\" title=\"Anti-Gun Billionaires Win As Oregon Ballot Measure 114 Passes\u00a0\">implements<\/a> all of the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>require permits issued by local law enforcement to buy a firearm;<\/li><li>require photo ID, fingerprints, safety training, criminal background check, and fee payment to apply for a permit; Large donations from single individuals made up most of the pro-Measure 114 funding, with Connie Ballmer, the wife of Steve Ballmer, billionaire and former Microsoft CEO, being the top donor with a contribution of $750,000, followed by Nicolas Hanauer ($250,000), and Bloomberg\u2019s Everytown PAC donating an additional $155,000.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>At least three Oregon sheriffs have already declared on social media that they will not enforce BM 114 in their respective counties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Linn County Sheriff\u2019s Office is NOT going to be enforcing magazine capacity limits,\u201d wrote Sheriff Michelle Duncan in a post on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI agree 100% with Sheriff Duncan,\u201d wrote Union County Sheriff Cody Bowen on Facebook. \u201cThis is an infringement on our constitutional rights and will not be enforced by my office!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPer [the sheriffs&#8217;] direction our office would not enforce Measure 114,\u201d Undersheriff James Burgett of Sherman County told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wweek.com\/news\/courts\/2022\/11\/12\/three-oregon-sheriffs-say-they-will-not-enforce-measure-114\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"anti-gun-billionaires-win-as-oregon-ballot-measure-114-passes\" title=\"Anti-Gun Billionaires Win As Oregon Ballot Measure 114 Passes\u00a0\">WWeek.com<\/a> via email.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of BM 114 from pro-gun groups are also expected to be filed in the coming days, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/crime\/2022\/11\/when-will-oregon-measure-114s-gun-limits-start-uncertainty-reigns.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"anti-gun-billionaires-win-as-oregon-ballot-measure-114-passes\" title=\"Anti-Gun Billionaires Win As Oregon Ballot Measure 114 Passes\u00a0\">OregonLive.com<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So while the anti-gun Billionaires who backed BM 114 may have won the first round, this fight is far from over.
