Prior to the change, only law enforcement was allowed to bring guns onto school grounds.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/school-board-in-iowa-will-allow-staff-to-carry-on-campus\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"another-iowa-school-district-allows-staff-to-carry-guns-on-campus\" title=\"Another Iowa School District Allows Staff to Carry Guns on Campus\">School Board in Iowa Will Allow Staff to Carry on Campus<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;No one wants guns in school, but we want bad guys with a gun even less,&#8221; Superintendent Kimberly Lingenfelter told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcci.com\/article\/cherokee-iowa-school-district-to-allow-some-staff-members-to-carry-guns-on-campus\/41712369#\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"another-iowa-school-district-allows-staff-to-carry-guns-on-campus\" title=\"Another Iowa School District Allows Staff to Carry Guns on Campus\"><em>KCCI<\/em><\/a> in an interview. &#8220;And the board has taken a very measured and serious approach to the challenge of keeping students safe and staff.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While school shootings are&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/cbs-poll-shows-growing-hysteria-over-mass-school-shootings-despite-their-rarity\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"another-iowa-school-district-allows-staff-to-carry-guns-on-campus\" title=\"Another Iowa School District Allows Staff to Carry Guns on Campus\">statistically rare events and less common than they were in the \u201990s<\/a>, any policy that puts armed responders on site to help stop active killers has the potential to save lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, armed citizens thwarted 34.4% of active shooter incidents from 2014-2021, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/major-errors-in-fbis-active-shooter-report-perpetuates-narrative-that-good-guys-w-guns-dont-stop-bad-guys-with-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"another-iowa-school-district-allows-staff-to-carry-guns-on-campus\" title=\"Another Iowa School District Allows Staff to Carry Guns on Campus\">data gathered by the nonprofit <\/a>Crime Research Prevention Center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Campus carry shouldn\u2019t be controversial.
