(CCIA) is currently under fire after Gun Owners of America filed a lawsuit challenging its constitutionality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week, a district judge issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/link.mediaoutreach.meltwater.com\/ls\/click?upn=8K5Wri0pbLgOz7Ya1AR-2BtIRgQl1MEjMLQs1QinsaojNKxlkQ31OLx7nBgS1HgrL0AS88-2Fzs6n2sqsFnne-2FNBsC9BLTBY1ykUKpo316MevDoGgLFXZVWh01RbNJzqDiziQAxi_5e1W5rlmjSliCVoePxvgR0q5V-2BYbHynJ0mZPVtltMZxvLyvgwRgEHTgeEHaLYJoEN-2FYcLJFMBu06Pvna-2ByAODdABk829dYz5n7UGJRLV9grvm0C2nFXDGNwlcmwa743ohsFxwANV4-2FxIdfvGPnVsYxr8VSpuiBJ0vLGSk91PKFYtGWdBfDrHDK3hOyQm3ewN2JCgY1-2FGJSuSDd5EjpaIZP0SZhbT5DWkf65ea6DgnuElMvRzFNTMrU5HA0N1L5dYq-2FvBM-2F99paVuRnbgX2-2BElrLRvTnu93rSduS9wWU-2BPOca7Yw7WRuHpmazXSF8UJei12WDj-2FJTkibb1EUdGVFxJMrCajg-2FhENPhqgm8sa20uh4QJn1KhKtoVcrjSsyvCUgd1p54k9ETIrsyqYmxUTXAg-3D-3D\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"nyc-mayor-designates-times-square-a-gun-free-zone-will-criminals-obey\" title=\"NYC Mayor Designates Times Square A Gun-Free Zone: Will Criminals Obey?\">temporary restraining order<\/a> that blocked the following key provisions of the CCIA:   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Requiring businesses to openly state they ALLOW concealed carry&nbsp;<\/li><li>Disclosing one\u2019s social media accounts for review&nbsp;<\/li><li>Prohibitions on carrying in most so-called \u201csensitive places,\u201d including doctor\u2019s offices, Times Square, restaurants and places of entertainment, and on public transportation&nbsp;<\/li><li>In-person interviews with law enforcement<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As noted above, included in that TRO was designating Times Square as a gun-free zone.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, however, a three-judge panel from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit <a href=\"https:\/\/abc7ny.com\/ny-gun-laws-times-square-federal-appeals-court\/12320653\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"nyc-mayor-designates-times-square-a-gun-free-zone-will-criminals-obey\" title=\"NYC Mayor Designates Times Square A Gun-Free Zone: Will Criminals Obey?\">opted<\/a> to put a stay on the TRO to give the state more time to make its appeal.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, gun-free zones are once again legal &#8212; at least for now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was welcome news for New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, who championed the CCIA in the wake of the Supreme Court&#8217;s landmark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/21pdf\/20-843_7j80.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"nyc-mayor-designates-times-square-a-gun-free-zone-will-criminals-obey\" title=\"NYC Mayor Designates Times Square A Gun-Free Zone: Will Criminals Obey?\"><em>Bruen<\/em> decision<\/a> that struck down the state&#8217;s may-issue licensing scheme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The interim administrative stay of the district court&#8217;s temporary restraining order is an important and appropriate step and affirms that the Concealed Carry Improvement Act will remain in effect during the appeals process,&#8221; she said in a statement on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My top priority will always be to keep New Yorkers safe, and we will continue working with the Office of the Attorney General to defend our gun safety laws,&#8221; she added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alan Gottlieb, the founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, was critical of Mayor Adams.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf\u00a0he had his way\u00a0Mayor Adams would make all of New York City a gun-free zone,&#8221; Gottlieb told GunsAmerica via email. &#8220;The drug gangs and violent criminals are going to have a field day in his city.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No doubt this battle is far from over.
