Everytown Urging Youtube to DePlatform Pro-2A Contributors!\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety is, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/youtube-censors-gun-videos-following-everytown-letter\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"alert-everytown-urging-youtube-to-deplatform-pro-2a-contributors\" title=\"Alert! Everytown Urging Youtube to DePlatform Pro-2A Contributors!\u00a0\">once again<\/a>, urging YouTube to crackdown on pro-gun contributors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, the organization\u2019s Support Fund released a report (see above) that aims to draw explicit connections between the Buffalo supermarket shooter and YouTube content producers that upload firearm-related videos, including basic training videos that improve a responsible gun owner\u2019s ability to protect herself and her family.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everytown claims the goal is to \u201cdisarm hate.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor too long, companies like YouTube have given a platform to content that goes far beyond practical and safe firearms training for gun owners, and instead, provides instructional content to illegally modify weapons, build ghost guns, and train in offensive firearms tactics\u201d said Justin Wagner, senior director of investigations at Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSocial media companies must do their part to disarm hate and that starts with enforcing their own firearm guidelines on their platforms,\u201d he added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main problem with Everytown\u2019s hypothesis is the internet is a very big place.\u00a0 YouTube isn\u2019t the only video hosting platform with 2A-related content.\u00a0 Supposing that YouTube scrubbed all the gun vids on its servers tomorrow, determined killers would still have plenty of places to learn about firearms.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/tampa-bay-times-editorial-board-touts-floridas-bipartisan-support-for-gun-control\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"alert-everytown-urging-youtube-to-deplatform-pro-2a-contributors\" title=\"Alert! Everytown Urging Youtube to DePlatform Pro-2A Contributors!\u00a0\">Tampa Bay Times Editorial Board Touts Florida\u2019s Bipartisan Support for Gun Control\u00a0<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So, Everytown\u2019s sweeping call for censorship has nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with attacking and de-platforming our favorite Tubers.\u00a0 It\u2019s a way to hit them in their pocketbook and destroy their ability to make a living.\u00a0 Because while there are other places to post a video on the Internet, YouTube is still number one in terms of driving traffic and commerce. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To this end, Everytown is asking YouTube to continually move the goal posts with respect to what constitutes objectionable content. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Consider these recommendations in the report:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Clarifying the Community Guidelines to make clear that videos showing how to modify a weapon to increase its rate of fire, evade a state or federal regulation, or otherwise make the weapon more dangerous, are not permitted on the platform.<\/li><li>Amending its Community Guidelines to ban content related to body armor.<\/li><li>Amending the Community Guidelines to ban content that goes beyond practical defense training and instead provides tactical live-fire instructions on how to inflict the most damage.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If one puts an optic or a laser on a firearm, does that not make it more accurate for the user?\u00a0 Does that mean it\u2019s more \u201cdangerous\u201d? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everytown doesn\u2019t say.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Body armor saves lives!\u00a0 Why is this objectionable? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everytown doesn\u2019t say.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cInflict the most damage.\u201d WTF?\u00a0 Do they mean drills that teach one how to put rounds on target in a dynamic situation, like the Mozambique Drill, which might help stop a tactically-outfitted mass killer at a mall or supermarket? \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everytown doesn\u2019t say.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is clear though, is that Everytown\u2019s insatiable appetite for banning lawful firearms is not to be outdone by its appetite for censoring 2A content producers. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What was also fascinating is that Everytown took a proverbial shot at white American male veterans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll of the most shared channels in these YouTube circles have a consistent host or central \u2018character\u2019 that are similar in that the individual(s) who present the content have military experience in combat arms roles, and often served in \u2018elite\u2019 military units that specialize in small arms combat engagements,\u201d Everytown observes. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/lawmakers-youtube-instructing-it-to-censor-gun-related-content\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"alert-everytown-urging-youtube-to-deplatform-pro-2a-contributors\" title=\"Alert! Everytown Urging Youtube to DePlatform Pro-2A Contributors!\u00a0\">Lawmakers Pen Letter to YouTube Instructing It to Censor Gun-Related Content\u00a0<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey are all white American men, with decades of collective experience in the firearms industry, either through their YouTube channels or working as instructors or consultants with firearms manufacturers, after having already served in the United States military,\u201d it continues. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It appears Everytown wants to put these veterans out of work and prevent them from sharing their skills and knowledge with law-abiding citizens.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Time will tell whether YouTube caves to the pressure.\u00a0 It has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/youtube-censors-gun-videos-following-everytown-letter\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"alert-everytown-urging-youtube-to-deplatform-pro-2a-contributors\" title=\"Alert!
