Today\u2019s lawsuit holds 10 gun sellers accountable for fueling the gun violence crisis and endangering New Yorkers,\u201d she continued. \u201cIllegal guns do not belong on our streets or in our communities and we will use every tool necessary to root them out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lawsuit targets the following businesses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Brownells, Inc. (Brownells)<\/li><li>Blackhawk Manufacturing Group (80 Percent Arms)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Salvo Technologies, Inc. (80 P Builder or 80P Freedom Co)&nbsp;<\/li><li>G.S. Performance, LLC (Glockstore)&nbsp;<\/li><li>Indie Guns, LLC (Indie Guns)<\/li><li>Primary Arms, LLC (Primary Arms)<\/li><li>Arm or Ally, LLC (Arm or Ally)<\/li><li>Rainier Arms, LLC (Rainier Arms)&nbsp;<\/li><li>KM Tactical LLC,&nbsp;<\/li><li>Rock Slide USA, LLC (Rock Slide)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, NYC Mayor Adams is also suing five of the same companies in federal court: Arm or Ally, 80P Builder, Rock Slide USA, Rainer Arms, and Indie Guns.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are not going to let gun companies turn New York City into a city of mail-order murder,\u201d said New York City Mayor Eric Adams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/illinois-governor-signs-legislation-banning-ghost-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"nyc-officials-suing-these-distributors-of-so-called-ghost-guns\" title=\"NYC Officials Suing These Distributors of So-Called \u2019Ghost Guns\u2019\">Illinois Governor Signs Legislation Banning \u2018Ghost Guns\u2019&nbsp;<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Whether they are hidden in the trunks of cars or packed in a plain brown box, ghost guns are illegal in our city, and we will take every lawful action possible to stop gun retailers from profiting at the expense of the safety of our city,&#8221; he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sylvia Hinds-Radix, the city&#8217;s Corporation Counsel, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/06\/29\/us\/ghost-gun-lawsuit-new-york-city\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"nyc-officials-suing-these-distributors-of-so-called-ghost-guns\" title=\"NYC Officials Suing These Distributors of So-Called \u2019Ghost Guns\u2019\"><em>CNN<\/em><\/a> that they are asking the court to not only shut down sales to city residents but also compel the companies to disclose which New Yorkers purchased their products.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In April, the Biden Administration officially <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/FR-2022-04-26\/pdf\/2022-08026.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"nyc-officials-suing-these-distributors-of-so-called-ghost-guns\" title=\"NYC Officials Suing These Distributors of So-Called \u2019Ghost Guns\u2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published<\/a>&nbsp;its new rule redefining the term \u201cfirearm\u201d and regulating so-called \u201cghost gun\u201d kits.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rule singles out products that allow an unfinished frame or receive to be \u201creadily converted\u201d into a functioning firearm component, and states that these products are now considered \u201cfirearms\u201d under federal law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This new rule doesn\u2019t ban homemade gun kits, but it does subject these kits to the same regulations and background check requirements as other firearms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The implementation of the Biden rule is set to kick in in the coming weeks.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>UPDATE: An exclusive response from Erich Pratt, Senior VP of Gun Owners of America<\/strong>:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>What Letitia James is doing is nothing more than B.S.\u2014that is, she\u2019s heaping a huge pile of Blame Shifting to distract the public from her failed policies. For years, the Attorney General of New York has advocated laws that throw criminals back on the street before they are rehabilitated. But rather than take ownership of her own failed policies for the rise in crime, James is instead trying to blame gun companies\u2014and homemade guns. However, that tired ole\u2019 dog won\u2019t hunt, because the statistics don\u2019t support her claims.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>According to the Department of Justice, privately made firearms were found at 692 homicide or attempted homicide crime scenes over a six-year period. That means that, at worst, out of more than 16,000 yearly murders, homemade guns are used in around 115 homicides per year. That\u2019s far fewer murders than many common items which are easily found around one\u2019s house\u2014such as knives (1,476), hammers or blunt objects (397), or fists and feet (600).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Homemade guns have been a part of the American experience for over 200 years, and there are very good reasons as to why law-abiding gun owners would want to make their own guns and keep them \u201coff paper.\u201d Perhaps they don\u2019t want to be doxed, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/california-doj-leaks-personal-info-of-all-concealed-carry-permit-holders\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"nyc-officials-suing-these-distributors-of-so-called-ghost-guns\" title=\"NYC Officials Suing These Distributors of So-Called \u2019Ghost Guns\u2019\">Californian gun owners were this past week<\/a>. Or maybe they don\u2019t want to be included in ATF\u2019s illegal,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/republican-congressman-introduces-bill-to-block-atfs-backdoor-gun-registry\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"nyc-officials-suing-these-distributors-of-so-called-ghost-guns\" title=\"NYC Officials Suing These Distributors of So-Called \u2019Ghost Guns\u2019\"> partial, national gun registry<\/a>. Or maybe they just want to build an effective defense gun, as at least one Connecticut gun owner reportedly did to protect his family from a possible home invasion.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Letitia James should consider how good guys and gals with guns are dropping murder rates in places like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/brazil-homicide-rate-plunges-after-relaxing-gun-laws\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"nyc-officials-suing-these-distributors-of-so-called-ghost-guns\" title=\"NYC Officials Suing These Distributors of So-Called \u2019Ghost Guns\u2019\">Brazil<\/a>, which had violent crime rates that rival the dangerous, gun controlled areas in our cities.
