But the reality is that we can take meaningful action to reduce the risk of such a tragedy here in our state,\u201d said Sen. Cynthia Coyne in a speech before the Senate. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">THEY DID IT!!! As such, they have no place on our streets and in our society,\u201d added Coyne, a retired Rhode Island State Police trooper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/graphic-video-robbery-ends-very-badly-for-armed-suspect\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"rhode-island-poised-to-enact-confiscatory-mag-ban-age-restrictions-open-carry-ban\" title=\"Rhode Island Poised to Enact Confiscatory Mag Ban, Age Restrictions, Open Carry Ban\">Graphic Video: Robbery Ends Very Badly for Armed Suspect<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially, the sweeping mag ban stalled in the Senate Judiciary Committee with a 6-6 tie vote. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, Senate Majority Leader Michael McCaffrey (D-29) forced the measure through via an \u201cimmediate consideration\u201d procedure that fast-tracked it to the floor for a vote before the entire chamber, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc6.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"rhode-island-poised-to-enact-confiscatory-mag-ban-age-restrictions-open-carry-ban\" title=\"Rhode Island Poised to Enact Confiscatory Mag Ban, Age Restrictions, Open Carry Ban\">WLNE<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The full Senate then voted 25-11 to pass the mag ban.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alan Gottlieb, the founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, indicated that a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the legislation would be forthcoming.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf banning magazines with more than 10 pages is unconstitutional under the first amendment why is banning magazines with more than ten bullets NOT unconstitutional under the second amendment?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat is the question the Second Amendment Foundation will be asking the courts to decide,&#8221; Gottlieb told GunsAmerica via email.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rhode Island Senate passes 10-round magazine ban bill with no grandfathering, sending it to the governor: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kMMvGSjsJz\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"rhode-island-poised-to-enact-confiscatory-mag-ban-age-restrictions-open-carry-ban\" title=\"Rhode Island Poised to Enact Confiscatory Mag Ban, Age Restrictions, Open Carry Ban\">pic.twitter.com\/kMMvGSjsJz<\/a><\/p>\u2014 Firearms Policy Coalition (@gunpolicy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gunpolicy\/status\/1536880712263032834?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"rhode-island-poised-to-enact-confiscatory-mag-ban-age-restrictions-open-carry-ban\" title=\"Rhode Island Poised to Enact Confiscatory Mag Ban, Age Restrictions, Open Carry Ban\">June 15, 2022<\/a><\/blockquote> \n\n\n\n<p>All three bills will now head to the desk of Rhode Island Gov.
