H\/T The Charlie Kirk Show.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;My kids are my conscience,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And I may win or lose this race, but I\u2019m always going to have to face them and answer for what I\u2019ve done or failed to do when I had the chance to do something. And I just took the position that may not be politically popular or maybe too honest that only should no one be able to purchase an AR-15 or an AK-47, because they\u2019re designed to kill humans and that high-impact, high-velocity round will just tear up everything inside you. You\u2019ll bleed out before we can get you back to life.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;But I don\u2019t think that the people who have them right now in civilian use should be able to keep them,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just several months ago, it appeared O\u2019Rourke <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/beto-backtracks-im-not-interested-in-taking-anything-from-anyone\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"betos-back-on-the-confiscate-ar-bandwagon-no-place-in-civilian-life\" title=\"Beto\u2019s Back on the Confiscate AR Bandwagon, \u2018No place in civilian life\u2019\">softened his stance on the issue<\/a> in an attempt to curry favor with pro-2A Texas voters.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While visiting East Texas in February, the progressive politician told a crowd that he\u2019s \u201cnot interested\u201d in taking anyone\u2019s firearms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not interested in taking anything from anyone. What I want to make sure that we do is <em><strong>defend the Second Amendment<\/strong><\/em>,\u201d he said (emphasis added).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/exclusive-beto-orourke-lied-exaggerated-about-his-conversations-with-gun-show-attendees\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"betos-back-on-the-confiscate-ar-bandwagon-no-place-in-civilian-life\" title=\"Beto\u2019s Back on the Confiscate AR Bandwagon, \u2018No place in civilian life\u2019\">Exclusive: Beto O\u2019Rourke Lied, Exaggerated about His Conversations with Gun Show Attendees<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, prior to this, Beto made waves during a 2019 Democratic presidential primary debate when he vowed to confiscate AR-15s and AK-47s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHell, yes, we\u2019re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re not going to allow it to be used against fellow Americans anymore.\u201d The O\u2019Rourke <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2019\/sep\/13\/beto-orourke-selling-t-shirts-hell-yes-were-going-\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"betos-back-on-the-confiscate-ar-bandwagon-no-place-in-civilian-life\" title=\"Beto\u2019s Back on the Confiscate AR Bandwagon, \u2018No place in civilian life\u2019\">campaign immediately began using the clip<\/a> to sell merchandise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even as late as Nov. 2021, Beto told <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2021\/11\/15\/texas-beto-orourke-guns-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"betos-back-on-the-confiscate-ar-bandwagon-no-place-in-civilian-life\" title=\"Beto\u2019s Back on the Confiscate AR Bandwagon, \u2018No place in civilian life\u2019\">The Texas Tribune<\/a><\/em> that he \u201cwon\u2019t be backing down from his message on guns\u201d and \u201cpeople shouldn\u2019t have access to assault rifles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think most of us also understand that we should not have military-style weapons used against our fellow Texans,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is one giant flip flop!  It&#8217;s hard to overstate how big of a 180 Beto did.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, if that doesn&#8217;t give Texas voters enough reason to pause, perhaps his antics at the recent press conference in Uvalde will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As GunsAmerica previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/orourke-blame-texas-governor-for-tragedy-these-kids-died-because-you-chose-to-do-nothing\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"betos-back-on-the-confiscate-ar-bandwagon-no-place-in-civilian-life\" title=\"Beto\u2019s Back on the Confiscate AR Bandwagon, \u2018No place in civilian life\u2019\">reported<\/a>, Beto showed up there unannounced to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/orourke-blame-texas-governor-for-tragedy-these-kids-died-because-you-chose-to-do-nothing\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"betos-back-on-the-confiscate-ar-bandwagon-no-place-in-civilian-life\" title=\"Beto\u2019s Back on the Confiscate AR Bandwagon, \u2018No place in civilian life\u2019\"> blame Gov. Greg Abbott and other grieving leaders<\/a> for the horrific tragedy at Robb Elementary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many argue it was a shameless attempt to turn a solemn affair into a publicity stunt to grab headlines and gain notoriety for his campaign.
