(<em>Photo: Fox News<\/em>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>Piers Morgan claims that with the benefit of hindsight he should have approached gun control differently while hosting <em>CNN\u2019s<\/em> \u201cPiers Morgan Live\u201d from 2011 to 2014. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI would do it differently if I had my time again because I think you\u2019ve got to be mindful if you\u2019re a Brit in a foreign country like America that America has its own culture, and it has a strong gun culture,\u201d he explained to Fox News\u2019 Sean Hannity this week. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Morgan noted that coming from a country with \u201cno guns\u201d to a country with guns his aggressive tone and tenor on the subject may have been \u201coverbearing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI do think I went about it perhaps in a very overbearing way, trying to tell Americans how to lead their lives, and you\u2019re right, if you try to do that with our Royal Family on British TV, you\u2019d be run out of town \u2026 I should be respectful of Americans\u2019 right to lead their lives how they wish to lead them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For those that don\u2019t remember, Morgan was the most vocal anti-gun advocate in mainstream media during his tenure at <em>CNN<\/em>. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Never once did he apologize for his combative style during that stint.\u00a0 In fact, quite the opposite, Morgan seemed to double down on it especially when he was confronted with the facts about gun-related violence in America (just a few random facts):\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Black rifles are <strong>not<\/strong> the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrace.org\/newsletter\/mass-shooting-gun-type-data\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"do-you-believe-piers-morgans-mea-culpa\" title=\"Do You Believe Piers Morgan\u2019s Mea Culpa?\">\u201cpreferred weapon\u201d of mass killers<\/a><\/li><li>Criminalizing private transfers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/department-of-justice\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"do-you-believe-piers-morgans-mea-culpa\" title=\"Do You Believe Piers Morgan\u2019s Mea Culpa?\">will not keep prohibited persons from procuring guns<\/a><\/li><li>In any given city, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/new-study-small-group-of-known-criminals-driving-crime-not-law-abiding-gun-owners\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"do-you-believe-piers-morgans-mea-culpa\" title=\"Do You Believe Piers Morgan\u2019s Mea Culpa?\">small hyper-violent minority is responsible for the vast majority of gun violence<\/a><\/li><li>Gun-free zones are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rand.org\/research\/gun-policy\/analysis\/gun-free-zones.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"do-you-believe-piers-morgans-mea-culpa\" title=\"Do You Believe Piers Morgan\u2019s Mea Culpa?\">not an effective deterrent<\/a> against would-be killers<\/li><li>Two percent of all counties in America account for<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nraila.org\/articles\/20170428\/research-shows-murders-are-heavily-concentrated-in-small-fraction-of-counties\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"do-you-believe-piers-morgans-mea-culpa\" title=\"Do You Believe Piers Morgan\u2019s Mea Culpa?\"> 51 percent of the nation&#8217;s murders<\/a><\/li><li>Research supporting<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/ideo-destroys-any-study-that-shows-gun-control-works\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"do-you-believe-piers-morgans-mea-culpa\" title=\"Do You Believe Piers Morgan\u2019s Mea Culpa?\"> gun control is inherently flawed and unreliable\u00a0<\/a> \u00a0<\/li><li>There is <a href=\"https:\/\/news.northeastern.edu\/2021\/06\/30\/the-myths-and-the-realities-of-mass-shootings-in-the-us-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"do-you-believe-piers-morgans-mea-culpa\" title=\"Do You Believe Piers Morgan\u2019s Mea Culpa?\">no epidemic of mass shootings <\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Probably the most memorable moment from his show was when Ben Shapiro called him out for his refusal to listen to pro-gun guests and his perchance for bullying.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou have been a bully on this issue\u2026 I watch your show, and I\u2019ve seen it repeatedly, what you tend to do is you tend to demonize people who differ from you politically by standing on the graves of the children of Sandy Hook, saying they don\u2019t seem to care enough about the dead kids,\u201d Shapiro <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/shapiro-morgan-debate-gun-control-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"do-you-believe-piers-morgans-mea-culpa\" title=\"Do You Believe Piers Morgan\u2019s Mea Culpa?\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Morgan, anyone who argued that they needed an AR to protect their families or to protect the free state from tyrannical forces was a loon or worse, as Shapiro observed, wholly indifferent to the slaughter of innocents. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/atf-finalizes-publishes-ghost-gun-rule\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"do-you-believe-piers-morgans-mea-culpa\" title=\"Do You Believe Piers Morgan\u2019s Mea Culpa?\">It\u2019s Official: ATF Finalizes and Publishes \u2018Ghost Gun\u2019 Rule<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>But the truth is Morgan\u2019s anti-gun crusading did not stop after he left <em>CNN<\/em>.\u00a0 In 2018, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-6329823\/PIERS-MORGAN-Stop-cowardly-tool-NRA-Mr-President-ban-AR-15.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"do-you-believe-piers-morgans-mea-culpa\" title=\"Do You Believe Piers Morgan\u2019s Mea Culpa?\">penned an op-ed<\/a> in <em>The Daily Mail <\/em>that urged then-President Trump to outlaw America\u2019s best-selling rifle: the AR-15.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI refuse to believe the Founding Fathers would have ever allowed guns like AR-15s to be used by American civilians as killing machines in this horrendous way,\u201d wrote Morgan, after recounting various mass killings involving AR-pattern firearms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNobody needs one for home defense. Nobody needs one to hunt. Nobody needs one, period \u2013 other than to kill a lot of people fast, as we are now seeing time and again,\u201d Morgan continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s little doubt that Morgan still holds this position.\u00a0 But even if advocates for it in a more polite, subdued manner this time around, the bottom line remains. He wants to see Americans disarmed. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This means he wants to inhibit our capacity to defend our homes, our families, and our country from those who wish to cause them harm.&nbsp; He wants us to be more vulnerable to violent criminals.  That stance, no matter how nicely it&#8217;s articulated, is unacceptable.
