Following news this week that the Biden administration would proceed with its federal ban on so-called \u201cghost guns,\u201d<\/a> the nation\u2019s gun lobby released a statement that criticized the president for, among other things, being soft on crime.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAn administration that\u2019s truly sincere and resolute about curbing violent crime rates would do one thing: take violent criminals off the streets,\u201d said the NRA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYet the Biden administration allows these criminals who kill and maim with callous and reckless abandon, again and again, to roam the streets of Baltimore, Philadelphia, Chicago, New York, San Francisco and other cities large and small across our country without fear of prosecution and punishment,\u201d they continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Biden\u2019s gun control actions will hearten his wealthy gun control supporters. But, this action sends the wrong message to violent criminals, because this \u201cban\u201d will not affect them.

To back up the NRA\u2019s point, a recent study of the D.C.-area <\/a>looking at homicides from 2019 to 2020 found that 86 percent of victims and suspects had prior run-ins with the law. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOverall, most victims and suspects with prior criminal offenses had been arrested about 11 times for about 13 different offenses by the time of the homicide,\u201d the study said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main takeaway is that roughly 500 identifiable individuals drive 60-70 percent of the city\u2019s shooting each year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
How a city deals with this small but hyper-violent minority really matters.\u00a0 Yet, it seems, in many Left-leaning cities these known criminals are allowed to re-offend with impunity thanks to a revolving door of justice (funded in large part by George Soros<\/a>) that puts ’em back out onto the streets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Instead of focusing on the problem, the Biden administration delivers more window dressing to appease Bloomberg and his minions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the NRA noted, \u201c\u2026 the president unveils another hollow plan that will not stop this violence.\u00a0 His gun control actions will undoubtedly hearten his wealthy gun control supporters.\u00a0 But, this action sends the wrong message to violent criminals, because this ‘ban’ will not affect them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
