Technically, this was already legal, but not spelled out in the letter of the law. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clarionledger.com\/story\/sports\/outdoors\/2022\/04\/01\/mississippi-air-bows-air-rifles-deer-hunting\/7215281001\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunrt365-mississippi-law-oks-air-bows\" title=\"Mississippi Law OKs Air Bows \u2013 But They Were Legal Anyway\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the <em>Clarion Ledger<\/em><\/a>, part of the confusion is over air bows. In 2020, a bill allowing air bows during archery season failed to pass, leading people to believe that their use was not legalized. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But that was only for hunters during archery season. Because they don&#8217;t rely as much on strength to use, they can be shot more easily and accurately than conventional bows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They&#8217;re more compact than traditional bows and even some crossbows, and can often be used with optics for additional accuracy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEE ALSO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gunsamerica.com\/digest\/hunt365-mississippi-hunters-787-pound-alligator\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunrt365-mississippi-law-oks-air-bows\" title=\"Mississippi Law OKs Air Bows \u2013 But They Were Legal Anyway\">Mississippi Hunters Hook Massive 787-Pound Alligator<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The newly passed <a href=\"https:\/\/billstatus.ls.state.ms.us\/documents\/2022\/pdf\/SB\/2001-2099\/SB2010PS.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"clickTracking\" campaign=\"hunrt365-mississippi-law-oks-air-bows\" title=\"Mississippi Law OKs Air Bows \u2013 But They Were Legal Anyway\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Senate Bill 2010<\/a> goes into effect on July 1, 2022. The bill also allows a state commission to add special hunting seasons to deal with deer surpluses as well as to take game to sample for chronic wasting disease. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The extended season we had in 2019 in that North Mississippi zone,&#8221; Walsh said. &#8220;We had that special two-day season to increase hunting opportunity and to gather more samples out of that zone. It just spells out we have the authority to do that, but it doesn&#8217;t really change anything.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\">***<a
