<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis indicated this week<\/a> that a special legislative session may tackle constitutional carry, among other priorities, in the not too distant future. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session would be held in mid-April with a focus on creating a new congressional map for the state.\u00a0 But lawmakers could bring up other issues as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Constitutional carry was introduced last session in the state House but never made it out of a committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Twitter, Rep. Matt Gaetz cheered the announcement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Thank you @GovRonDeSantis<\/a> for calling a special session in the FL Legislature to pass Constitutional Carry,” wrote Gaetz. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I encourage Florida\u2019s state lawmakers to pass @AnthonySabatini<\/a>\u2019s Constitutional Carry bill immediately! The only permit a gun owner should need is the Second Amendment.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rep. Sabatini, a longtime supporter of permitless carry, was also excited by the news. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alabama<\/a>, Indiana<\/a>, and Ohio<\/a> all went permitless this year. Twenty-four states, nearly half the country, now allow law-abiding citizens to bear arms without any bureaucratic interference or red tape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
