Almost as soon as red dots became widely available, turkey hunters started mounting them to their shotguns to make more precise shots on their gobbling quarry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But an optic mounted to a shotgun rail often sits too high for a natural cheek weld, which is why Mossberg took a page from the competition world to develop the brand-new 940 Pro Turkey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we learned when we swung by the Mossberg booth at SHOT Show 2022, Mossberg engineers based the 940 Pro Turkey on the gun used by legendary competitive shooter Jerry Miculek. The result is a lightweight, maneuverable, and truly optics-ready shotgun just in time for turkey season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"619\" title=\"The Ultimate Turkey Gun? The receiver is cut to accommodate Shield RMSc-pattern micro dot sights, which also include popular models from SIG Sauer, Leupold, and Holosun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This deep cutout allows the optic to sit low in the receiver and gives the hunter a better sight picture using a natural cheek weld. It also allows the optic to co-witness with the front fiber-optic sight, so that if the electronic optic ever fails, the user can use the iron as a backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also like many competition shotguns, the 940 Pro Turkey features oversized controls and a wide loading port for faster loading. While most hunters don\u2019t often find themselves speed loading, the oversized controls will be easy to manipulate even with thick gloves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"628\" title=\"The Ultimate Turkey Gun?
