This year at SHOT Show 2022, B.E. Meyers introduced the KIJI<\/a>. The KIJI is an Infrared laser illumination tool. Think of it as a super-powered night vision flashlight…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have dealt with Night Vision and different kinds of illumination, either IR (infrared) LED illuminators or diffused laser illuminators, you have probably been left wanting. A lot of them perform pretty poorly and have mediocre controls. By far, the best I’ve used is the MAWL-C1+ by B.E. Meyers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the MAWL-C1+ is amazing, it is pretty expensive. The KIJI offers the illumination side of it without the laser.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The MAWL-C1+ is a civilian legal visible green laser and IR laser and illuminator. But here is the thing, it is pricey. And what if you’ve already invested in an IR laser for shooting under night vision? Or are looking at getting into it but want to mainly focus on shooting passively but still need IR illumination at times? Or maybe you’re using a clip-on NV unit to shoot at distance…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

B.E. Meyers has the answer, it is the KIJI. The KIJI is a civilian-legal IR diffused laser illuminator. And if you are familiar at all with the MAWL-C1+, it has more output than the illuminator on the MAWL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unit is comprised of a head that can be attached to any CR-123 single cell body, such as the SureFire Scout Mini Pro. And likewise, it can use any compatible tailcap. This opens the door for clicky switches as well as numerous remote switches and pressure pads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KIJI is offered in two variants, the K1-10 and K1-3. They respectively have a native setting of 10-degree dispersion and 3-degree dispersion. They each offer flip-to-side diffusers, changing the 10 to a 40-degree throw and the 3 to a 10-degree throw. Made for close to intermediate distances and intermediate to far distances respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was able to slip away from the Las Vegas strip one night and do some shooting with Noctum Outdoors out in the desert. During that range trip, I was able to spend a little bit of time behind the KIJI. First impressions, it is awesome! A great solution for adding IR illumination to most any gun if you don’t already have a MAWL. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
