This year at SHOT Show 2022 I had the chance to sit down with Andrew from SureFire<\/a> to get the rundown on their new line of lights. As a result of the market becoming more interested in high candela lights, SureFire introduced their Turbo Line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Turbo line of lights is just that, a high candela version of previous lights. And since candela may not be a familiar term, it is a measurement used to calculate aspects of light, similar to lumens. But candela is different. In simple terms, think of candela as related to distance. Typically the higher the candela, the farther a beam will travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So the new Turbo line, with high candela output, throws a beam significantly farther than the older models. Does this matter? It really depends on a user’s needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, most of the SF models that use TIR lenses have a well-rounded light at most medium to close distances. With the higher candela lights, one gets a tightly focused beam at longer distances. Is this something that appeals to you? Only you can decide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what lights are they bringing out in the new Turbo Line? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quite a few, including some of their handheld lights, the new EDC2-DFT and EDC1-DFT. Also, their pistol-mounted lights, the X300T and X400T (with laser), which maintain the same footprint for holster compatibility. And finally, two of their rifle\/carbine mounted lights, the Turbo Scout Light Pro and Turbo Mini Scout Light Pro. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the new lights will be available in late March of 2022. Most of the prices will be similar to the previous MSRP plus $30 approximately. Also, the EDC lights will be available in a special grey anodizing. To find out more information, check out SureFire’s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
